I really enjoyed looking through this thread today! I really liked that Reol song, and a lot of the stop motion doll content n_n I wanted to share my favorite youtube video in the world...

THAT was awesome!  I love it!  Traditional Japanese instruments really sound amazing.  I recently got into the koto due to a really great anime series so seeing them in use here was great.

And on that tip, here's another amazing group that does traditional style music along with newer styles mixed in.  This video is my favorite of theirs due to it just being the 2 brothers playing just shamisen.  It's so cool sounding.

Ressurection jutsu on!  😄

I've not been on YouTube in a while but going by a friends house a few weekends ago, he had on some cool stuff I found interesting.  One such video had this song on it and a really funny but creepy looping video attached.

U Got That | FULL VERSION [MMV] - YouTube

Follwing that I found this insanely cool video of something I've never seen before.  A video game in VR called Beat Saber?  It looks super fun but also super hard.  This video shows someone who is VERY adept at the game tho.  I love how it shows the first person perspective to one side as well as the entire girl avatar in centerstage.  Quite a fun video for me plus an awesome song.

[Beat Saber] U Got That - Halogen (EXPERT) - YouTube

Lastly he played this AMV.  It's extremely well timed, well done and has a fun remixed song in it.  There's so many guest appearances that it's hard keeping up with them all.  😉

Beat Saber?

Look ma! One handed:

It sort of amusing how much effort some folk put into these avatar presentations. Artemisblue (shown above) has probably the most polished presentation, though Omotea seems to have a bit better scores in terms of the songs, like caramelldansen.

Been meaning to research what these folks use for body tracking .. the virtual youtubers as far as I know use kinect through MMD (at least in ye olden days, Kizuna Ai for instance kept the default Z/Y/X grid a long time in her background)

The player baldy linked, to me seems to have issues with body scaling, and ends up in the awkward squatting pose most of the time...

Too bad you need to have a PC rig for the custom songs that most of these people are playing, and the options there are a bit limited since going Rift means giving Le Zuch money...

As an addendum Adam Savage actually made aluminium saber hilts for his VR batongs for more saber-realism, and thus a better excercise:

I found this through twitter awhile back and meant to post it, but assumed it had to be posted since it wasnt that recent at the time of finding ... sent me into a rabbit hole of old house techno link solving.

99% of the time I think that ~weird Japan~ stuff is just Orientalist bias.

The remaining 1% is occupied by Dolly☆Variety Hyper ViSUADOLL Movie.

From the man who brought you Tamagochi and Digimon comes this utterly insane multi-episode television program consisting of vinyl doll puppet drama interspersed with Anime Voice Actors Doing Activities. Absolutely baffling. There's no subs, but I guarantee you that an understanding of the language offers no insight into why this program was made. I've linked one of the funny bits.

One of the current boarcasting anime series brought up something worth its own little post here I think ...

from "So Im a Spider -- so what?"

I found this extended nico-nico typeset vomit overlay with karaokebox spoofage extended ending video out of semi curiosity...

...

Which is all fun and games untill you notice it was by Kadokawa themselves ... somebody seems to get their IP it seems...

To offset all the Hyperbolia ... some soothing pick covering from one of slow-life series back for a new season...

...

That is all.

End of line.

A bit of an oldie from 1½ years ago I stumbled over again ...

How to make such a mundane thing as farming seem like something out of a science fiction movie? -- Add darkness:

Maybe a tad overly cinematic score added to it, but still was oddly impressive when it came out.

...

And now for some reason I want to go play Dune 2000 again ...

Macross seems to be a thing again with the 40th anniversary kicking off this year, and stumbled across something that was released a few days ago on the tubes:

which is sort of amusing since its supposed to be Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee singing the biggest saving grace out of Delta, but in the end its just May'n soloing it pretty much and ranka just as stage dressing and barely audiobale in the chorus ... oh well, business as usual with Ranka getting short end of the stick

I saw this recently on Anime news network, and found this quite interesting.
Recently the pilot for “Saban” Moon was discovered and this person made a wonderful documentary on the lost media and their detailed journey in finding it.

This is a two part documentary, or they have the pilot listed on video lists if you don’t have …3:30 hours to spare 😅

Seems 1/3 scale. Or not? Anyway nice model. I could not resist to post it here. The Video reminded me a dream I still have from early past - to make a car for my dolls. (I even had some wooden construction but it broke - yep, spruce not best option. But I still have (hot)wheels.)

Looks pretty close to 1/3 scale.

That car is incredibly cool. Looks like a fun idea to build a 1/3 scaled car. (But first finishing the Carriage)

When thinking about how to create one I would build it differently from the carriage. Starting with a ladder frame. Something like a Fiat Panda Cabrioni.

I am curious about what type of car you would have build.
On which part did your wooden construction brake? And more importantly is there a way to repair it?

Sorry about the many off topic questions. This topic is too interesting to let it pass by.

It broke in places where glass would be held - too thin and spruce wood easily splits and it was older wood we had in shed I would say. In terms of construction I would go more for barbie car type construction. Strong floor  from hard wood and bodywork from EVA foam - Worbla could be aslo na option but I do not have taht much clay and worbla is more expensive. Also it is harder to get machine perfect technical surface in clay - insane to sculpt. So EVA foam is better because does not deform too much and you just glue it together. I want some retro car (Trabant, Škoda 100, 120 or VAZ 2101) but also I am imgainating new Volkswagen Beetle from early 21st century, my barbie dolls have this model. But I am not sure if even a retro car would not end with secret Nitro - I love need for speed underground music. In the end of the day I would start from scratch aiming to simplicity.

I have seen some car for smart dolls made by somebody but I dont remeber where.

Edit - 4.10.2022: I have found Škoda R200 today, seems a good comprise of old and new. Bit bizzare in front mask but in very good way. yay ^^

VAZ 2101

... ah the Fiat 124, technically the second (or was it third?) most produced car in the world (if you count all the AutoVaz subvariants... actually have a small soft spot for the wagon Lada made out of it.)

The original Panda is more or less managable in terms of size ... would be actually fun trying to make a 1/3 scale 4x4 Panda mk1 with radio controls.

While zooming around the youtubes looking for things starwars, remembered this old mashup from well over ten years ago ... still worth a chuckle:
