Help for first time placing Eyes

Hmmm, i´m not really sure how i can place my first pair eyes in custom DDH01 on my MDD>_> ^^ i only bought complete Dollfies like Miku before

 

Hope someone can explain it to me.

I dont want to make something wrong or use material which damage head or eyes.

 

If someone know matching material which can bought in germany i were also grateful

White sticky tac is the choice for a lot of people. Pritt or Uhu is what Japanese people tend to use. I know some people use silicone ear plugs but I haven't had much success with those personally.

someone told me this pads leave oil stain ? on objects or wall itself? or is it not relevant on the eye or head?

In my experience the white sticky tack by Pritt and Uhu doesn't leave any oily residue that damages vinyl/eyes. I've used it with custom resin eyes in a head for over 3 years without a problem.

 

(Even if it does leave a slight oily stain on say paper doesn't mean it'd damage eyes/vinyl)

I have used Silicone ear plugs with good success, but only on one Doll. I haven't changed the eyes on any of my others.

 

This video does a really good job on the process.

Some sticky-tac brands, in particular colored ones, contains oil and those will leave marks on walls and wall paper. I've used Pritt's white sticky-tac (not exactly the one waha linked to but one in a very similiar looking packaging) and it left no marks on paper so it should be oil free.

 

Did a test some time ago to see if white-tac or silicone ear plugs would leave any stains. Turns out the (Pritt) white-tac dicn't leave any stains but the silicone ear plugs did! I put a white-tac and a piece of a silicone ear plug on a piece of regular writing paper and after a week there was a noticeable stain on the paper left by the ear plug. A month later the stain under the ear plug had soaked right through the paper. There was still no stain under the white-tac.

You can also get the same type stuff from just about any drug store like CVS, Walgreens or Rite Aid. I've only used the blue stuff once and it didn't stain even after being in a head for months. But most of the time I get the gray or white stuff and it works just fine.

I'll have to use one of those. I can't wait to get my first eyes in (purple WDS eyes!)

The Silicone earplugs I used definitely left a residue on the card stock they came stuck too. I don't know if that has any impact on Vinyl. They are clear so there should be no dye, and they are meant to be used in human ears so they shouldn't contain caustic chemicals.

 

At some point I will pop the eyes out of my Kos-Mos and see if they did any damage inside. I believe the Archangeli who made the video is the same person as the Archangeli who is on this forum. You could always message her and ask her if she has had any problems with those plugs.

 

I got the ones I used in the grocery store, so it's a very convenient choice.

I've used the earplugs for years and have had no damage to heads or eyes. They leave a waxy residue on the edge of the eyes but it comes off easily in water or even just by rubbing with a soft cloth.

This is a relatively new version of this product from Volks so not many people have probably used it. It is also expensive ($11 USD) and Volks' preferred shipping (UPS ground) can double the total cost. Many of the solutions already mentioned cost $2-5 and can be purchased at a local drug/office supply store. If you are already spending a large sum of money at Volks adding the cost of Volks eye putty will be insignificant. But if all you want is eye putty now, paying $20+ and waiting 2+ weeks to order from Volks is not many people's first choice.

I believe Volks USA does first class mail now. Still why pay $11 if you can use something else that cost far less?

I used the Volks eye putty when I first started out, because I wasn't on any forums and everything I bought was from Volks. IMHO their eye putty is exactly the same as sticky tack except it's flesh colored. And since you won't see it anyway, doesn't really matter. Also, yeah it's expensive. That $11 container has only enough in it for about 3-4 dolls depending on how much you use. I stopped using it once I started using ear plugs.

I'm really happy with the putty from CoolCat. I've been using it since... 2008 or 2009? And it's yet to cause any marks / residue / oil / etc.

I try it with UHU (patafix) and now i only wait for wig to finish her :3

Ok cool with the no talk I was a little worried. It was also part of a larger order and was kinda a after thought. As I only have plans for one doll getting new eyes I am not worried for now.
