First DD

I'm looking to get my first DD soon, but having looked at the standard models (Aoi and Yuki), I'm just not keen on their pouty faces. Personally I kinda like the face of Dollfie Dream Dynamite Miko but I'm not too keen on the body size. It's a shame Volks don't sell the pre-face-up'd heads separately. I'm just kinda lost on what to do, I seriously doubt I could do a face up my self.

 

Do people tend to offer face-up services at all? I've not seen any yet. It's just so tempting living 1 minute from the Akihabara Volks store. Being so close yet not able to just 100% commit due to one single detail (a rather big one, as the face is super important right ^_^)

There are plenty of faceup artists around. I've used two here on the forums alone. There are many other people here, and lots of other doll sites/crafty services where people will do it.

 

Alternatively, you could look for just a head (either on the marketplace here, or on YJA). People sell heads on their own all the time. Then you can get any body you like. That's what I've done for most of my girls.

Miko's head is a standard head 06 (while Aoi is a 02 and Yukino is a 03) so if you like her head you could just search for a 06 and make it painted Like Eustia said you can buy a custom on yja or just ask around online, here on the community there are a lot of us doing faceups services for example http://www.dollfiedreams.com/viewforum.php?f=18

Thanks, I used to paint various models a long time ago, before breaking every bone in my arm simultaneously. Still not got a steady hand back yet lol. Else I'd give it a try myself.

I'll head over to that forum and put up a request for a face-artist living in Tokyo willing to do it for cash (no CC, so limited to hard yen only lol), hopefully there is somebody ^_^

I can already tell you there are no faceup artists on this forum who live in Japan. Closest is China/Hong Kong, and a few other east asian countries.

I should probably rename this to "First DD" or something by now.

 

I just found this post viewtopic.php?f=31&t=6132 and was amazed that it's Yukino, the Eyes really make a huge difference it seems. And this too viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12349, her mouth looks better there than on the Volks site. Camera angle difference perhaps.

 

I got the impression finding an artist in Tokyo might be difficult, but I did find pre-paid CC's available which do work with Paypal, so that's useful. Albeit they have fair markup on them for the convenience. It's an option.

 

Also just noticed they have new standards now, Mirai looks fairly cute on the stock imagery, might badger the staff to see if they have one I could look at closer at her and Yukino today.

 

Might be being too hasty, but I'm so tempted to grab a beautiful thin white fur coat I saw yesterday that I've never seen online before too, if it's still there. Clothes before doll... silly. lol
