Anne Pecaro falls prey to the dreaded Vinyl Bug...

Hullo, Vinyl-ites!

I'm Anne Pecaro, long time resin BJD collector / customizer/ You-Tube blabbity blabber / stop motion film maker.

 

And...I've been bitten by the vinyl bug. I had a 50cm Obitsu Haruka once upon a time, but she didn't fit for the character I was creating in my all-resin world. But I've missed that vinyl body ever since re-homing her

 

Part of me thinks it might be easier to animate vinyl....and part of me is just plain in love with the cute And another part of me thinks I need at least one vinyl to join my Hujoo Amie as a Ninja Librarian.

 

 

My interests so far lie with

1. Smart Doll (Mirai)--that body is a-ma-zing, and her face is so cute! But I'm a bit worried I might find it too flat in person? All the pictures I've seen of her profile look...pancake flat. I'd love to see one in person because I *love* her straight on.

2. And the Volks DDH-03. That profile. Ugh. I am dead.

 

I've thought of purchasing the DDH 03 to put on the Smart Doll Body...but I hear it takes modding. While I'm ruthless with a dremel on resin, something about modding vinyl freaks me out. So we'll see.

 

Anywho. Just a quick howdy as I've joined up here.

 

It'll take me a while to get my bearings here as I'm in the thick of a BJD stop motion deadline for Doll North (where I *hope hope hope* to see some Dollfie Dreams in person! I hear there's a big Dollfie Dream community in Toronto?)

 

But after that, perhaps I'll be able to think straight about this whole vinyl obsession I've got going on right now!

I agree with you 100% on the smart doll body! It's so so lovely and with the smart stand too? *cries* Number 1 on my wishlist right now for sure!

 

The profile on the DDH-03 is what made me fall in love with the sculpt too, well that and her sweet/sad eyes! I don't have a vinyl baby yet, but hopefully soon!

I saw the title of your post and I was like "Hey I know that name!" I got to meet you at Dollism in your room when you were doing the showing for your stop motion video and then one more time in the dealer's room. Just want to say I enjoy watching your videos and hope that when Dollism USA happens again that we'll be able to talk more

 

DDH-03 is a very nice head and I don't blame you for wanting a Smart Doll Body to put it on as it is quite nice. The hack for DD heads on Smart Doll bodies isn't too bad~ The neck peg on the Smart Doll body is shorter and thinner than the Volks neck peg so back when Mirai came out Danny told people to use 4mm wide clear rubber tube to help with this problem. I'm going to link you to Chun's box opening of her Mirai. Towards the end of the post she puts 3 different DD heads on the Smart Doll body. Thought this might help as a reference for you

Yeah--that profile is amazing I did have lots of fun at Anime North, so thanks for the well-wishes. I actually got to hold a Mirai o.O !!! Also got to compare her with an 06, so that was amazing too! Good luck acquiring your dream girl!

Oooh! Thank you for that link! Very helpful. I got to see Mirai in person this weekend and I while I was hoping it would seal the deal for me, I'm still on the fence about her. She's absolutely gorgeous, but her profile is indeed a bit too flat for my tastes I did get to see a couple 06's and they are stinkin' cute, with great profiles too!

 

I didn't get to meet too many DD owners, as I worked staff during the DD Panel. But at least I got to meet a couple!
