New to BJD's

Hi! A friend introduced me to BJD's, and after much deliberation, I just purchased (and received) my very first Dollfie Dream! I have the DD-III body and the DDH-05 head. After doing her face-up, I named her Kimiko. I've already taken quite a few pictures with her and with my friend's Hatsune Miku, and I think I'm hooked! If anyone knows of any BJD events in the Washington State area, I'd be very interested in hearing about them. Other than BJD's I make my own beaded jewelry, so looking forward to trying my hand at making jewelry for dolls.

 

As a last note, I'd like to thank everyone here for all the wonderful tips on these forums. They were really helpful when I was doing my first attempt at the face-up.

Welcome to the world of Dollfie Dreams and this forum! I'm also a fan of the DDH-05 head. I've got a couple of the Volks made up heads on a DD2 and a DDdy body - they were readily available & inexpensive. I like their slightly open mouth look. Mine are Holly & Danielle. I hope you meet some folks here from your home state so you'll have opportunity to attend a meet sometime.

P.S. My wife is a beader also, and has made a few doll size items for our DD use.

I'm actually from WA as well. I'm in the Tri-Cities area in southeast WA. I'm part of a bjd meetup group but I'm the only one still local that has a Dollfie Dream and not just resin. Also, she's not finished! D: She has clothes but no faceup or custom wig yet... I've been super distracted with other life things and have been neglecting her but I'm about to change that :3

 

Anyway! If you're anywhere near, it would be fun to have a meet up :3

Thanks for the welcome! I'm actually on the Seattle side of the state, and I don't get to the Tri-Cities often. I found this forum just a little late, because I learned about a DD meet up at SakuraCon about a week after the con. Oh well, there's always next year, right?

 

And that will give me plenty of time to build poor Kimiko's wardrobe. She has one borrowed outfit and a hospital gown that I *ahem* accidentally made her. I'm not a great seamstress, so I thought it'd be good to draft my pattern out of a cheap, dull green, cotton scrap fabric I had laying around. It did not turn out well.

Aww, I was hoping to have another DD lover in the local group! Haha

That's so funny about her impromptu hospital gown.
