muumeen Posted May 27, 2015 *Deleted this post in the Obitsu board* Hello! I was told on mfc to join this site since it's very helpful for doll customization. This will be my first doll, so I'm pretty clueless about everything there is to know. I can't provide images on this post (I'm guessing because I just joined ^^;) so I'll try to describe as best as I can!! I want to create the character, Hinamori Amu (in Amulet Heart form) from the anime series Shugo Chara, with an Obitsu 25 cm body. I don't like any of the compatible 25cm heads, so I was wondering if I can use a F01N/W type head (I found it on the junkyspot- it's a nude head that has an 'anime head' shape) and CUT eye holes to make it look like the super dollfie head types I've seen floating around here? It's a nude head so I don't know if I can do this? OH, and will it fit on the 25cm body? (That's important too lol) Aside from the head!!- If I can cut the eyeholes, I have questions on customization. What art supplies do you all use to make the pretty eyelashes around the eyeholes? I've seen many pictures of Dollfie Dream face-ups with the pretty painted or drawn eyelashes and eyebrows, but I haven't found any helpful tutorials... (I want to use a brown color btw) Examples of how I want to do the eye lash paint: A) viewtopic.php?f=18&t=11745 B) viewtopic.php?f=18&t=8021 TLDR;!: 1) Can I use the F01N/W head on a 25cm Obitsu body? 2) What art supplies do you all use to make the pretty anime eyelashes on dollfies? (please refer to links above for examples) 3) Follow up for 2 (if possible) any helpful tutorials on how to paint those pretty eyelashes & brows? I really really appreciate any pointers/help! Thank you!!! P.S. After all this is solved, I'm probably going to need help with the eyes as well *SIGH*
Error-Chan Posted May 27, 2015 Welcome to the forum hun ^^. It would be best if you post this here viewforum.php?f=39 this is the Obitsu/SQlab sub forum. they are off topic so posting in the Dollfie dream part is not the best place.
Jezrah Posted May 27, 2015 I dunno, does it even belong in that subforum, as most topics in there are about the 1/3 scale dolls, not 1/6. Most of the 1/6 scale discussion is in the Off Topic Dolls subforum, but there's currently not one about the 1/6 Obitsus really so I'm not sure... I tried a project just like that on 1/6 Volks dolls when the were still available, I was going to make Amu and Ikuto. But if you cut open the eye holes then you need eyes, and at that size there are only normal style eyes, not animetic, so I gave up because Amu's big eye holes look creepy with normal style eyes. It's probably better to paint on eyes or use decals. And I don't know if you can really achieve that same level of detail in the lashes like you linked at that scale. But try this thread for info on materials to use. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=10717
muumeen Posted May 27, 2015 There are some animetic eyes available for Obitsu at Parabox. The problem then would be what size I should cut the eye holes for them to fit and not look weird ^^; It's gonna be a real hassle to do this project. Aww I wish you hadn't given up on Amu & Ikuto! ;A; Thanks for the link btw!~ I dunno, does it even belong in that subforum, as most topics in there are about the 1/3 scale dolls, not 1/6. Jezrah Posted May 27, 2015 Oh right I forgot about those eyes since they didn't exist when I tried. Personally I would just draw out the eye shape and cut it out, then measure to see what size eyes are needed. Maybe I'll revisit it at some point, I still have them around somewhere. babytarragon Posted May 28, 2015 I'm not sure too many members here are familiar with this size. The forum dolliehsanctuary has many 1/6th collectors who may be able to help more Cutting eye holes sounds difficult to get right... There may be decals that suit her look? In terms of the painting you'll need acrylic paint and a good thinner. For a head this size you'll need a brush of about 30/0 or smaller. Then it's a case of painting the lashes in mid brown then going over in the day brown you want to end up with
