Smart doll Tan!! (Ebony and Ivory info.)

 

Yeah, it is light to be called Ebony, but he did say there were going to be more skin tones available in the "Ebony series"--so the name doesn't just refer to this one light tan doll, but the whole range of colors that will be available.

That's really cool. I think because he's marketing to the whole world, and not just Asia, it makes good sense to offer many skin tones.

 

I hope one day he makes a more petite girl (like for his pink haired character). Then maybe I can fulfill my dream of making a Lal'C doll ^^ Or something similar.

I'd personally like to see a shade or two darker, so I hope he does have different tones.

I am so excited for the Ebony dolls, you have no idea. This means that I can make ALL the characters from my original story! Yay!! I originally really struggled deciding whether to make my characters in resin or DD/Smart Doll because of the lack of my needed skin tones. I'm glad I made the jump to vinyl :3

 

The Mirai sculpt works for my sweet girl if he makes a darker brown skin tone, and Kizuna's sculpt works for my girl with an attitude in the skin tone shown in Danny's sample photos (although if he makes a yellow under-toned tan, it would be perfect...)

 

Still squeeing every time I think of the Ebony dolls, haha!

And now the question Ive been meaning to ask Danny, what happened to 03 :Chitose's release? I was so excited for her but it looks like she and the other charcters get pushed back more and more each time another release is posted.

Ooh! Chitose! I didn't know he planned to release her! If he does a separate head sculpt I will be super duper excited!

So excited for Ebony's release. Danny's coming to SMASH! Sydney this year in August and is apparently bringing both Eiji and Ebony with him to have on display but not to sell (but he will be offering sales of both Mirai & Kizuna). Will be taking lots of photos!!

oooooh this is very exciting news. To finally be able to get a tan skinned doll with an aesthetic similar to a DD is brilliant. Can't understand why Volks doesn't offer tanned skinned dolls...or male dolls for that matter.

True, between Eiji & Ebony, Danny is offering something DD & other 1/3 vinyl doll owners have been wanting for a long time, a well proportioned vinyl boy (sorry to any Obitsu owners but Obitsu boys, although they can be lovely, are nothing compared to what Eiji is looking to become) and a tan skin girl - without having to experiment with dyeing or airbrushing. He's definitely cornered the market there. Now how long before Volks tries to follow suit, do you think...or will they?

Late posting here, due tolurking Definitely looking forward to seeing where this tanned line goes with the other tones and character sculpts. A tanned girl will definitely be on my list once I have cash to leap into the world of Smart Doll.

Thanks for the info! That makes me really happy because I am all for darker skin tones as I am used to resin bjds that only go to dark tan (a lot of but not all companies anyway) and no darker. Other ethnicities need to be represented in the doll world!

 

Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now, LOL. This is also awesome because one of my characters is African American ^^

Every time new pictures are posted I just get really excited~ I may not be able to bring her home right away, but just knowing that option will be there for me is really nice When I get the chance to bring her home she'll most likely have dark brown hair & brown eyes like myself

I"d be all set if this were the case! I was discussing this with a friend and she suggested having a head airbrushed.

This really shouldn't be referred to as ebony, it's barely terracotta

I THINK Ebony refers to the whole line of tan skin girls he's gonna release. But don't quote me on that.

He briefly said "excited for Ebony and her darker version, Harmony"... so it sounds like a darker girl than the current Ebony is planned.

 

I'm hoping I can match a Volks head to the Ebony body with some airbrushing magic.

I can't wait to see the even darker tan version ! I really wish more doll companies would offer tan (real tan, not milky orange lol) as an option. Although I'm aware tan skin isn't very popular in Asian countries so that must be why they don't bother *meh*
