Atlanta, GA BJD Convention Nov. 20-22 2015

We will be doing our panel on Saturday. I don't know which room or what time we'll be doing it tho as they haven't given us that info yet. I do know that we'll have the room/panel for a 2 hour period and we plan to do the panel for about an hour, then do a Q&A for about 30 minutes and then a "meet and greet" at the end so people can come up and see and handle the DD's as well as meet and chat. Of course we'll also set something up later in the day or evening for DD owners to come and hang out again without any time restrictions but I'll do more info on that once we get closer to the con time.

Excellent! Glad to know you'll be coming! Since you have quite the collection of VMF girls I'd say to bring one or two of them along to share with people. I only have a VMF body with an 01 head on it so a fullset would be cool to see!

 

And I have no idea if the panel is early or late. Once I find out, I'll post details here.

Becca and I have been working on the presentation and it's looking pretty good so far. We still have a few things to tweak on it but it'll be ready within a week or so.... plenty of time before the con draws near! I don't see our presentation lasting a whole hour tho unless we add more things so this means we may extend the Q&A section or the "meet and greet" at the end where people can come up and check out the DD's we're bringing along.

 

If you're coming to our panel, PLEASE feel free to bring one or two of your DD girls along to share! We should have a table for our display as well as another for visitors to display theirs. The more the merrier I say because I'd love to have as many different girls out for the resin owners to see as possible so they have an idea of what can be done with a DD.

I have no clue when the panels are timed for yet. It's hard getting in touch with the people running it. I'll try to get my GF to contact them again and see what the deal is, it's WAY too close to still have no schedule times or info for this. They need to get on the ball dammit!

 

I don't think the way the panels are listed means that's when they will be done so I wouldn't worry about that just yet. Have you tried getting in touch with them about it yet?

I talked to them today. They said there aren't times posted yet but did ask what time I was looking for. I told them an afternoon slot would be nice and that I'm wanting to participate in the vinyl doll panel as well.

 

I've known the people running the com (very loosely and only through other GA cons) for a few years, and organization isn't the strongest suit. I still am looking forward to seeing everyone's lovely dolls and having a great opportunity to meet new people!

SOMEONE hasn't been reading this thread have they?

 

My GF and I are hosting an Introduction to Vinyls panel on Saturday but we don't know what room or what time yet. As soon as we know, I'll post about it here. We already have our Powerpoint setup finished and we have our list of girls to bring along as examples for people to see at the panel.

 

The panel is scheduled to run for 2 hours total... the first 45 minutes to an hour will be the presentation, the next 30 minutes or so for Q&A and then the rest for a meet and greet style thing where people can come up and check out the girls we have on display and such. We'll also have a table set up for people attending to bring along their vinyls to show off too so please bring yours along!

 

I'm not sure where or when but we also want to have a mini meet of sorts for people in the hotel on Saturday evening, probably after supper time. It'll be informal and more of a "Hey I know you!" or "Hey, I finally get to meet you!" type deal. We can hang out and talk dolls or whatever else we like. As we get closer to figuring out the rest of the panels and schedule, I'll keep people posted here about this meetup. There's also a meetup somewhere in the hotel setup from DoA so we'll probably hit that as well just to meet more people.

 

I feel this will be a BUSY weekend!

I'm just a bit anxious as it's T minus 10 days and the event schedule has not been published yet. I see myself rushing to the venue and running around the hotel not knowing where or when your panel is.

 

"Oh yeah. It was real nice, but it ended 2 hours ago. They had to move it to someone's room on 14 because the Face-up demo was already using that room. There was a note posted somewhere near the front desk, I think. Didn't you see it?"

Haha, I'm sure we won't go through them all. They were cleaning out a swag closet at work and several boxes of these things wound up on the "free" counter... I grabbed several of them. XD

Trust me, I'm not happy about not having that info yet either. But it seems my GF has been in contact with the person running this thing and she said she'll have some info for us tomorrow. Once I know what's up, I'll update here.

 

I know she was told that we'll have whatever we need for our panel when it comes to tables, chairs and A/V equipment so we can do our Powerpoint presentation. I requested 3 tables so we'd have plenty of area for our display dolls and for people who bring theirs to the panel to share.

Darn, there's still no schedule posted yet as of a few moments ago (11/15). Things are probably changing up to the last minute so they're waiting to post the most updated info... I'm just impatient.

 

There are some workshops I want to do, and I need to know what day they're going to be on so I know whether to buy a 3-day pass or if I can make do with a Saturday 1-day pass. Also need to know the pricing of the 1-day at-door pass for comparison purposes.

 

Myself and DJStarstryker are planning to attend on Saturday for the vinyls panel since we're currently in the area. We'll be driving over sometime that day.

 

Not sure what to bring, if anything, though. I learned not to bring dolls to Japanese dolpas since ironically they'd get in the way of the other festivities, but a convention might be different. Did we ever decide if it's permissible to bring swap meet items, either for right after the panel or for a designated swap meet area at the con if there is one? Not sure yet whether I should bring anything to sell or any extra cash to buy stuff from others.

 

For instance, I could bring a spare DD Miku and some Volks outfits for anyone who likes the DDs based on your presentation and wants to buy one but not go through the lottery hassles. Or for non-sale supplemental props I could bring a nekkid Aoko as a demonstration that default outfits aren't guaranteed to be kind to your doll (I haven't de-stained her yet). Things like that. Just throwing around some possible ideas...

Yeah, you're not the only one who has grown impatient with seeing the schedule! We're doing a panel and STILL have no clue what day or time or room we're supposed to do it. No clue why but I'm guessing the reason you gave is probably close. I'm not sure what the 1 day and 3 passes costs are since my GF paid for ours.... no clue what to tell you there. My GF and I also want to do some workshops and panels so knowing when and where they'll be will definitely help us out too.

At cons, it all depends on what you want to carry around with you. I've brought several DD's to cons but only carried one or two with me at a time.... either on my arm on in my backpack. Either way it was quite manageable and easy to do. I'd say feel free to bring along whoever you'd like! And be sure to bring them to the panel as well, we'll have a table for guests to place their girls to share.

I was actually going to say something about just this topic. I don't think we can do a swap/sell/trade at the panel itself ( mainly because I don't know if there will be anyone using that same room for another panel/workshop after we're done ) but I definitely want to have a meetup for forum members and other people we know later Saturday evening. I have no idea where we can do it in the hotel just yet but the place looks large enuff to have plenty of meeting spaces to hold such a meet. And at the meet I wanted to definitely have a swap/sell/buy thing for everyone. Even if you didn't have a DD, some stuff will still work well for resins in a similar size so anyone would be welcome.

 

I would say to bring whatever you want for a swap/sell/meet! A Miku and Volks outfits would be great to see and especially a stained Aoko! We have some photos of some of my girls who got stained from clothes but having an actual stained DD there for people to see in person would rock. I'd really appreciate that for sure!

 

If I hear ANYTHING on the con, I'll post here as soon as I possibly can. And once we do get things hammered out for the panel schedule, we can use the forum or PM's to set up the swap and meetup thing. If you'll be doing the 3 days then let me know so we can meet up on Friday evening for supper or something!

It's amazing the type of swag they pulled out of the closet. T-shirts, hats, mugs, and those keychains. The keychains actually belonged to Windows Media Center Edition event kits (complete with name badges, demo software, and brochures). Needless to say, I threw out the rest of the stuff. XD

I did some restorative/protective work on her after I shot those pictures, including a few layers of MSC, new elastic, wiring in the joints, replacing one of the foot joints with something easier to remove, and adding magnets to her head cap.
