New to Dollfies, not to Dolls!

Hello! I got into the resin BJD hobby a couple years ago, and have always had an interest in Dollfies and other anime styled dolls though the prices seemed quite daunting at first!

 

That and I couldn't figure out how to navigate Volks website @__@

 

So for the longest time, I admired from afar, but I think I'm ready to take a more serious interest in these cute ladies, especially after handling my friend's MDD.

Looks like it's been a while since you've joined DollfieDreams, but you're welcome to finally introduce yourself at your own pace. I'm also a resin BJD owner, and there is a bit of a difference between them and these DDs. The DDs anime cuteness seems to be what hooks most of us, and I believe that you've admitted to being attracted to it too. They'll become another source of enjoyment for you, and I think you'll find this place to be a greater source of information when you finally have your own.

I have some pretty ridiculous social anxiety, so I kept thinking to myself that posting an intro thread was a bad idea. "I don't know what I'm talking about! I don't know anything! I'll say something stupid! If I post a thread and then don't come back for a long time, will they be angry?" Which is all pretty silly, though I did get yelled at once for joining a forum, introducing myself and then being absent. So I suppose that one's not totally farfetched! However, I've done some lurking here and there and only ever heard nice things about the Dollfie community, so I decided to finally give it a shot

 

I'm really looking forward to learning more about DDs! I like the internal frame system a lot, to start with. Restringing is a pain in the butt and I'd love to be able to pose my dolls without them deciding they're gonna do something else instead.

Yes, I know about the BJD restringing bit. Trying to get the right tension is always a calculation that seems to change value whenever I do it. The Dollfie Dreams eliminate that altogether! I've had to install some of the Cool*Cat reinforcement rings on several of my DDIII to repair cracking, but at least there is an answer to that problem. It is a pretty quick fix, and it works! And costuming with Volks is somewhat interchangeable between the DD & SD types, so you can enjoy both worlds a little easier. But whenever & however you choose to interact with us, we hope you enjoy your time here.

Welcome! It is so good to know that there are others out there that started in the resin world and have also moved into DDs. It really does seem like you are starting over and feel super overwhelming. So it is nice to meet everyone in this community. Honestly I would have been on here sooner if I knew about this forum-so good for you!
