I was looking online and saw a dollfie dream saber liliy for like 5000/ I know this is a popular Dollfie dream option saber . Why though is this doll soo expensive. Is it that it was a limited amount of dolls. Or is it that making her costumes costs soo much. Or is the face up done by a well known artist. Or all of the above.

I've seen listings for DDs such as Saber or Sasara on eBay or Amazon for outrageous prices like that $5000 Saber Lily you came across. I can't imagine those sellers aren't serious about selling the dolls in question, it's more of an attention grab, "look at this rare item I have in my shop!" Or they seriously believe that someone would spend that much, even though there are better deals to be found.

 

It's true though, that most versions of Saber, as well as other Dollfies with additional plastic armor or accessories, cost more straight from Volks. Saber Lily went for about $1000 retail price, where as the averge DD is aroud $500-600. The additional plastic items (swords, guitars, etc.) mean Volks has to make more molds, the most costly part of plastic toy manufacturing.

Ebay prices are way higher than the actual market prices, it's better to look other places. There's the marketplace here or on Den of Angels, Yahoo Japan Auctions, Mandarake, and maybe a few other places I can't think of right now.

The Saber girls are definitely popular and the first one ( Blue Saber ) as well as Lily are the most expensive. If you check places like Mandarake and YJA, you'll find that the average selling prices for these two run like this:

 

Original Saber = $2000-$2500 for the full set

 

Saber Lily = $1500-$2200 for the full set

 

Lily has been gaining ground recently tho and has sometimes sold for close to $2500 on YJA. But this may have been due to two bidders being aggressive or something too. But the price ranges above are what you'll see for the most part on these two girls excluding the stupidly high prices on Ebay.

I recently saw Saber Fate/Extra go for like 1300, on ebay. I didn't realize that she was around that price new. Still I think it best to have someone do a custom face up, with some perks, and try to make or find her outfits here or other market place.

Dont buy it on Ebay. The price on Ebay is always highter than the market price.

Saber is /just/ expensive... Saber Extra goes for around 1200~1300 euro incl. fees (don't forget the broker/auction fees, import/duty, shipping etc...)

Lily and the original one go for outrages prices, you need to be patient, lucky and quick to stumble on the right ad...

I really need to correct your price, at least on Saber Extra.

You can easily get a Saber Extra for less than 95k JPY. That's about 700 Euros/$800USD.

You can do just that without even buyin' off Y!J and thus avoiding proxy fees. There are 2 up on Jungle for 92k JPY and one up on Mandarake for 95k JPY. I bought mine for even less than that.

 

If they paid that price they'd be severally ripped off. Especially because both Manda and Jungle will under-declare and help lower your chances of payin' your full custom fees. I literally don't know what you'd have to do to spend that much.

 

Sorry, I just read that and I had to do a double take. I'd hate to leave someone to spend so much money only to learn that they could have spent so much less.

Europe is a lot more expensive... I got my Saber extra for 99000 from YJA. 10% broker fees, national shipping, international shipping 27% import fees added up ended up to 1097 euro can't do shit about the 27% import fees... Not going to ship a DD uninsured.

And that's your choice to go for a more expensive alternative. I wanna still inform them of other options that are cheaper and still equally reliable disregarding whether you are in Europe, the USA, or Nowhereville.

 

If you give a price, give the base price. Let the person calculate fees. Can be confusing to actually understand what her real value is if you just sum up a huge freakin' number out of fees that they may not actually have to pay. (They can choose to under-declare, or not go through Y!J, etc)

 

I mean, they could go through Japonica which only charges 3% for that price range. XD There are a lot of variables you are just filling in without them asking the question. Tell them to be aware, but don't give them the number. :>

Is an okay price. I got mine for 67k via Jungle. Broken shoulder, but a simple fix that didn't even deduct the value of the body. (Thus why I reacted that way XD)

 

Patience and a good eye can save you a lot of money, and I'm all for helping people save money. :>
