Yukino at the Botanical Gardens

Back in early September, I went up to a doll meet at the Daniel Stowe Botanical gardens outside of Charlotte NC. There were lots of people there and lots of dolls. And this time, my DD girls weren't alone! There were other DD's in attendance as well.

 

After the main meetup and such, we all split up into groups and went walking thru the garden areas. I took along 4 girls and gave each of them their own photoshoots in different areas.

 

First up is Yukino!

 

 

 

I don't know the names of most of these flowers and plants so I'll just let the pics do the talking for now.

 

 

 

 

 

After the flowers up by the main building, we went down a long path and found a big water fountain to check out.

 

 

 

 

 

Yukino noticed that the flowers here were the same as on her hat. =3

 

 

"Papa! Come sit with me!"

 

 

We find another cool water fountain around the corner from the last one.

 

 

We could actually walk under this one! Yukino was very excited about this.

 

 

 

Time to sit down again, it was kind of hot out there in the sun.

 

 

 

My friend Ed had his new girl Kitsune out with us. She wanted to go sit with Yukino. She's a custom DD with a DDS body and an SQ Labs head.

 

 

More flowers!

 

 

 

We found a small bridge going over a stream. Perfect size for some dolls!

 

 

 

 

 

After this, it got too hot and we headed back to get some drinks. Next time we'll see Sango and a new friend!

lol Beautiful pics! I've been meaning to ask....what is an SQ Labs? That differen't from Volks?

 

EDIT: Nevermind I found the site and I have to say I'm very much liking the SQ Lab heads over the Volks heads O.O But....will the SQ Labs head fit on the DDdy body?

Awesome photos!! I'd love to go to a meet up. We actually have a Botanical garden up in St. Louis. Maybe i should get on DoA and see of there are collectors around here and maybe try and go to one.

Thank you sir! And while the kitsune name is used here, she's very unlike yours. But who knows, maybe she is masking her true self?

Since you found them already, no need for me to link to them. And yes, the SQ Labs heads DO fit the DDdy girls with no problem. BUT, please note that ALL SQ Labs heads are made of resin and are smaller than a regular DD head from Volks. So wigs will be a different size. Other than that you shouldn't have any issues.

Thanks! Yep, that *is* from Alices Collections so you have NO MORE excuses not to order from them!!

Unless of course you want to order this dress thru mint On Card instead, they also have this same dress and they are located in Michigan so shipping is less and so are shipping times. I think the dresses cost about the same. Still, AC has such nice stuff at really good prices, it's hard to stay off their website!

Thank you very much! Meetups are fun and you get to see lots of different types of dolls. Locally I am the only one with DD's but when I go to the upstate or to NC, there are others with them. That's how I found out about doll meets in the first place, thru DoA. I'm going to a Halloween themed one on Oct 22nd in Columbia, that should be cool. You are bound to find people near you Wayne, go and check it out to see!

Thanks! I tried to do different lighting styles this time and some of the shots worked nicely while others were just ok. I took WAY more than this but didn't post them all here. I also like the hat, it was really cheap at A.C.Moores craft store, like 2 bucks! All I had to do was hot glue those flowers to it for a cool look.

Hmm... I'm not sure how all that stuff works really. I got in a long while back by just asking to register by emailing someone, not sure who it was now. It may have been open registration at that time, I dunno. I'll check and see if I have any "invites"that i can send altho I have no idea how to do that or check on it. I'll ask around tho.

Yes she sure did. She was super excited about all the pretty flowers and stuff. I think she liked the water fountains best tho. And yes, DD's outside look so great, especially with nice greenery as a background.
