I had a similar problem with Agatha--she's always drawn with fairly emphasized lips in the comics, especially her lower lip.

Initially what i did was paint a very thin underline under her lower lip in brown, and then blushed her lips fairly liberally with pastels/pearl-ex. That's the purely face-up way to do it.

On her second head, I actually did quite a bit of sanding: I sanded down her philtrum to emphasize her cupid's bow (or rather, on the 03, give her one in the first place), as well as a bit underneath her lower lip but above the chin. This makes the lower lip look fuller without resorting to additive mods. This allowed me to do just the liberal blushing without the thin underline. (On her I actually did more to take down her upper lip than to emphasize her lower one, because the upper lip on the 03 is honestly a little insane in how far it sticks out. On your SQ head you probably want to do a bit of each fairly equally, if you go this more intensive route.)

In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.

Be careful sanding resin though- resin is different than vinyl, the dust gets in the air and it's highly toxic. Vinyl can be sanded safely but always assume that resin is harmful and wear a proper full filtered dust mask.

Thin lips is why I couldn't stand the SQ lab head I had and ended up selling it on.

Anouc painted my DDH-02 head, Suri. Suri has almost no lower lip sculpted, but Anouc defined the shape of the lip with pale color and then painted a small white dot to make her lip look shiny. I think her lower lip looks quite plump.

Thank you all. I will have a play with it. I probably won't go the addission/mod way she is resin. So I ell see if I can face-up it

I really like your Izzy's faceup, Error-Chan! Her eye paint is subtle and beautiful, and I like how you did her eyebrows. It looks like she has more lower lip sculpted than my 02 girl.

Good luck with your faceup experiments!

I think if you add a good amount of gloss to the top and bottom lips it will help emphasize them. I have experimented with using less blush on my doll's lips and was initially worried they'd look too colorless and flat, but you'd be surprised how much a little gloss makes them pop.

indeed I have gloss and I have used it on Isolda's lips and I do get what you mean. I will be cracking my art box out soon once I finish a wig I am making.

This may help to look at shading?

She as a great way of making these girls look like the just stepped out of the screen!

I adore Clockwork-Angel's work and I did remember this image a wile back but I will save this to my doll folder so I can go back for reference.
