Where to find these kinds of ornaments?

Sorry if the auction is over by the time you click on the link but yeah.

I've always been a fan of that kind of very ornate and rich clothing for dolls. But I want to make some myself or just customize already existing ones to my liking instead of bidding for these ludicrously expensive outfits which I'll probably have a thousand pet peeves about...

So can anyone help me on this? Whether it's the lace or the golden pendants?

Thanks.

Somonul and I have both been wondering too (I'm especially baffled at what on earth they must have used for the tiara doodly), but something I've realized lately is that many of these artists, and some of the more elaborate manufacturers like Cheery Doll, appear to be layering their trims on top of each other. They'll take a lace, then put some kind of gold trim on that, and then maybe prestrung beads, real chains, or more lace.

I've found some neat trims at Joanne before, but they're not cheap unless it's on sale. ^^; Locally there's a fabric wholesaler called SAS Fabrics, so it may be worth seeing if there's someplace like that in your area, too.

However, I personally haven't tried buying online yet. Might be a good thing to try. . .

I just can't get over how jaw droppingly gorgeous they look, like in this one:

And OMG LED LIGHTS IN THE EYES THIS IS SORCERY HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE DBHEHSKSNDVJAKMS

For the hanging ornaments... Maybe we could try cheap earings? Like these knockoff crystal ones? As for the lace, it's easier to figure out.

Oh yeah, second-hand jewelry is great to cannibalize for art projects of all kinds.

You know, looking closer at those, I think I've seen stuff like that in scrapbooking occasionally, for use as photo corners. They've probably taken the adhesive off though.

While I was hunting for fake gem stones I came across an american online company called Artbeads.com that sells chains, pendants, fake gem stones, pearls and just about anything you need for craft and art projects. Haven't seen anything as intricate as that tiara though in their catalog.

Have bought fake gem stones from them twice and had no problems with them.

so here's the thing about tiny intricate tiaras made easy - heavily starched LACE!

which can then be easily painted to look metallic if need be

Oh yeah, I think one guy on Figure.fm does them that way. Pretty sure the ones Sakurahonya is using are things meant for scrapbooking though, because they're definitely metal.

And curse you Sleepywolf, I just impulse bought a bunch of Swarovski beads on that site. >.<

My mission is completed

At least you can get the order shipped to you realtively fast and cheap with snail mail. Had to cough up $24.99 for snail mail delivery across the pond to Sweden. My wallet was rivers.

Oh?! Have to try that!

I recently bought a Sakurahonya outfit and it came with a metal hair accessory. Three pieces hotglued together. One snapped out of the glue in transit (I imagine, it was loose when I opened it) -- honestly, the hotglue is just an ugly blob that isn't well done at all. The metal pieces are lovely, but the way they were glued together rather disappointed.

I didn't intend to use it anyway, so no loss to me.

Yup, him! Sometimes I think he overembellishes stuff, to be honest, but I do have to give him points for inventiveness a lot of the time.

Looking at the tutorials now.
