Sango's friend at the Botanical gardens

Last month I went to the Daniel Stowe Botanical gardens outside Charlotte, NC. I brought 4 girls with me and last time I showed you Yukinos little adventure.

 

Well this time, we get to see what Sango found interesting at the gardens. Leave it to my little Tsundere to find something other than flowers to admire.

 

It seems like she wants me to look at something....

 

 

"Papa! Look! Over THERE, not at ME!"

 

 

Ahh, you found a Banana Spider

 

"Does it eat bananas?"

 

 

No silly. They usually were found in bunches of bananas that were shipped over to this country long ago.

 

"Oh, that's a weird name."

 

 

They also call these Writing Spiders.

 

"Why? They don't have hands."

 

 

Old wives tales say that if one of these spiders weaves, or "writes" your name in it's web, you'll die the next day.

 

"Oooooo! Awesome!"

 

 

 

"I like this spider Papa. Can we take him home?"

 

Absolutely not.

 

"Awwww! You're no fun."

 

 

Sango leaves her new spider friend and heads to the fenceline.

 

 

 

 

Why are you over there Sango?

 

"Because I can, that's why."

 

 

Be careful on the fence dear.

 

 

 

"Why are you still here? What do you want?"

 

 

I'm making sure you don't fall off the fence.

 

"A likely story."

 

 

"Go get me something to drink Papa. I'm thristy."

 

That's a great way to ask for something Sango...

 

"Whatever. Just go get it."

Yes she's been hanging around Rei that's for sure. Giving out orders already.

 

She's also very into flowers I can see. First a spider (which is cool) then she's heading for the fence saying how do I get out of this stupid garden.

The photos of Sango with the spider are so awesome! You should put one in the Halloween thread. It would be perfect! She is so cute gazing at it. I love her outfit too! What is her favorite thing to drink?

Spiders creep me the hell out! I do just leave them alone if they are outside my home though.

 

Sango climbing on the fence is fun though. She's certainly a demanding girl...

I like the spider if it is on a computer screen. That is how I like Ebola as well...on a computer screen.

Thanks! I'm not a spider fan at all so no way was that getting into my car no matter HOW much Sango wanted it to.

Ha ha! She just gets full of attitude when I don't pay her enuff attention. She was having to share me with 3 sisters and lots of people she didnt even know so she felt a little left out I think. She was fine on the ride home tho, I let her ride up front. And yeah, she's not into nature much it seems. At least not flowers....

Thank you! I thought the Halloween thread was for pics of our girls in costumes only? Not sure really. Sango likes orange and grape sodas best. She always has one when shes snacking with Rei. After that, it's milk. She loves her some milk, just like her Papa!

Normally spiders freak me out as well. I don't care what type it is, if I see one inside my house, it's dead meat. But these big ones don't scare me as I know they aren't aggressive unless you try and grab it. I'm glad you liked the pics tho. Sango can be demanding but only when she's feeling ignored. I think she wasn't so used to so many people around and it kind of scared her. She was fine on the ride home tho.

Ha ha! Me too, I'm no fan. But she seems to like creepy stuff like that so why not let her have fun looking at one? I had to check her before we got in the car to leave tho, didn't want her sneaking that thing in with her!

I'm surprised to see so many fearful of spiders!! I guess it's not just my wife.

 

Guess it be hard for you guys in my neck of the woods, specially since I get big grass and wolf spiders in my house!!! Quite often in the summer months too.

I've never liked spiders. They just freakme out. I can deal with just about any other type of insect or critter. Snakes and such are no problem. But spiders just make me freak. Especially the big fat hairy ones. We get wolf spiders here too but not many. Any time I see one, it gets sent to its maker fast. but that goes for ANY spider I see thats not outside and away from the house.

I'm with Wayne on this one, I'm surprised so many of you are afraid of them. I'm the same way with scorpions. Lots of people out here get all freaked out about them but I just don't see what the big deal is.

 

When I was a kid I caught a wolf spider and put in a glass jar. I went to look at it the next day and when I picked up the jar there were hundreds of little baby wolf spiders crawling all over it and they were small enough to get out of the grooves on the top of the jar so they started crawling in my hand. I was pretty startled by that as I wasn't expecting it so I dropped the jar pretty quick. (Clearly I caught a female with an egg sac.) That's the only time I can recall being upset about a spider.

 

I mostly just worry about my little dog and what a spider or scorpion sting would do to her.

Well spiders don't really bother me when i see them. (The only bugs i hate are ticks.) I do however kill them with swiftness when i see them in or around the house cause my wife is terribly afraid of them and as to me having a baby and not wanting them to bite her.

A scorpion got our dog one time, and one in the bathtub got my mom even. I am afraid of lots of venom-containing creatures but I think snakes and komodo dragons are cute.
