Guest Posted July 9, 2015 I'm really excited to be here, as I just ordered my first DD, a Hatsune Miku doll from the VOLKS USA website. I've been wanting a DD Miku forever, and when VOLKS announced that they had another batch of her up from their AnimeExpo event, I was thrilled! She's supposed to arrive tomorrow, and I can't wait. I have two other resin girls, an MK Evelyn and a KS Moonstone, but I understand vinyl dolls are a whole 'nother ballpark! I'm going to worry about staining so much, haha. Lets see...I love otaku culture (although, I hope I'm not TOO much of an otaku), anime/manga, gaming, cosplay, sci-fi, dollies, and sugary sweets! I'd really love to make some friends here! Minty Posted July 11, 2015 Hello! Welcome to the forum. Congrats on your first DD! I'm guessing she has arrived by now; how are you finding your first DD? I was so surprised by how light they are compared to resin dolls. Most stains can be taken care of and aren't too much of an issue. If you do use the tape Miku comes with to help protect against stains, put the tape on the clothes instead of on her. Other forum members have reported the tape causing wrinkles in the vinyl when the tape is placed onto the vinyl. The wrinkles seem to go away over time once the tape has been removed and the vinyl can breathe again.
Guest Posted July 12, 2015 Thank you! I do have her now and she's wonderful, although wooo, her wig is crazy impossible to deal with. The only place Ive put skin tape on was around her head. Is that an okay place to put it?

Is that an okay place to put it? I haven't even tried putting that wig on my Miku yet. I don't want to fight with it until I have to. Having the tape around the head can cause wrinkles there too. You could try putting the tape around the inside of the wig itself, although I find the tape doesn't stick very well to wig cap surfaces. Here's the thread about the tape causing issues x. Someone in there mentions getting wrinkles on their doll's head from the tape. The wrinkles will be hidden by the wig and won't be too much of an issue. I'm thinking of getting her a similar looking twintails wig sometime in the future. Her wig is a monster. Thanks so much for the link. I did check it out but it looks like the tape effects some dolls and not others. It must be a situational thing. Thankfully I only have a few pieces around her head, so I'm not terribly worried. I feel like all DDs are going to have SOMETHING happen to them at some point in their dolly lifetime.

Talolili Posted July 19, 2015 Hello and welcome! I myself didn't have issues with the wig staining so I didn't use the tape or a wig cap but that's just my preference.
