SeikoKitsune Posted July 21, 2015 I'm new to anime-style eyes, but I'm under the impression that resin eyes are often (though I'm sure not always) better looking and/or have more depth. I bought some acrylics and they aren't as captivating as I was expecting, even though they have at least a low dome. In particular, I am looking for 22mm purple eyes. What are my options out there for resin eye makers/shops? I like to shop around, so the more suggestions the better! ^_^ Thanks~ The cast so far: Sky (DDS Mariko), "SK" (DDH-07 on DDS) Extra: LEN KAGAMINE
juu-yuki Posted July 21, 2015 Hi Seiko, I make metallic Dollfie Dream eyes out of Urethane Resin. Feel free to drop by the shop to take a look at the design selection: http://www.lizanna.com/shop Some acrylic eyes on the market can have some depth to them however they do scratch and crack a lot easier than Resin. They are however inexpensive compared to resin eyes because resin needs a very specific environment to cure properly. If you want something glass-like and looks good in every lighting conditions than try out urethane. I know there are also other types like silicone but they are pretty rare for Dollfie Dreams. There are a lot of other shops that sells Dollfie Dream eyes made from a range of materials so you have a lot of choices when it comes to design http://juu-yuki.com Dolly Shop: http://www.lizanna.com
galatia9 Posted August 4, 2015 Arietta Project has gorgeous resin eyes, in my opinion. I want to get a pair for each of my dolls! They come in sizes 20-24mm. http://ariettaproject.com/sitemap Pic of T-06 blue in my DDH-03, I think they are 22mm: Linda S. galatia9 DDH03 girl DDH07 x2 boys DDH06 girl DDH-05 x2 boys DDH01 mod girl Saber Alter SqLab Tsubaki boy DDH-02 girl Mio Honda Youmu Konpaku x2 boy twins Also: DDS Lagla, Sheryl Nome, SmD Melody, SmD Eiji x2
SeikoKitsune Posted August 6, 2015 Awesome stuff to consider, guys! :3 I found SQ Labs sells resin eyes as well, so that's another store on the shopping list for anyone following this thread. I don't know much about their eyes but it's an option. I probably need to wait a little bit before I can pick any eyes up, so meanwhile I'm looking everywhere to compare (I'm that kind of shopper ^^; ) Decisions, decisions~ The cast so far: Sky (DDS Mariko), "SK" (DDH-07 on DDS) Extra: LEN KAGAMINE
aquilla429 Posted August 6, 2015 I have some sq labs eyes and I really like them! They have a different look and feel to that of Arietta or Twin Snow/Lizanna but I think they are really pretty in their own way. Here's the two pairs of sq labs eyes which I own. They are the same size and style but in different colours and in different dolls obviously. Sakuya Portrait by Annie, on Flickr P5120286 by Annie, on Flickr Also they aren't resin eyes, they are acrylic, but personally I quite like the eyes from Parabox too, example below. They are obviously a lot simpler than a lot of eyes and they don't have the biggest range of styles but they do have some really nice colour and size options which you don't always see. Although not resin eyes, I'd say if they halve a colour and style you like, they're worth going for and as they're so cheap, it doesn't even really matter much if you don't end up liking them for any reason, whereas if you buy expensive eyes and they don't work for you for whatever reason it can be a total bummer. galatia9 Posted August 8, 2015 What's the price for the SQLabs eyes? I love how Parabox eyes look in the dolls, even though they are inexpensive. I kick myself for not adding some when I made my last Parabox order. :-p Next time for sure!! SeikoKitsune Posted August 8, 2015 What's the price for the SQLabs eyes? SQLab eyes are USD$15 and flat rate shipping for orders under $350 is $20. If I get eyes from there I think I'll get the EG-01 since it is closest to my art style as far as their purple eyes go. (I wish the EE series had lighter purple eyes). Lizanna eyes are GORGEOUS but my art style for this character has lighter purple eyes. I'm keeping my eye out for new styles, though! Poofiemus Posted August 8, 2015 If you need custom eyes that are resin, maybe try Dreaming Tree? https://www.etsy.com/shop/dreamingtreestudio?ref=shopsection_shophome_leftnav She usually does more BJD-type eyes (and sometimes dragon-esque eyes), but I do know she takes custom orders. She does make really nice urethane eyes, in metallic if you want them that way. (Just stuck a teeny 5mm pair of light blue semi-metallics in my new OT dragon.) In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
