DD head on Obitsu 40 cm body w/out spring

Recommended Posts

So I just rigged up my DDH 01 head on an Obitsu/ Parabox 40 cm body. I tried to follow along with the mimiwoo tutorial but was having a really hard time holding down the spring part inside the head while screwing the neck piece in from underneath the head. I have a hand tremor so doing things like this is pretty difficult for me.

So I fished around and found a longer screw and just removed the spring all together to make my life easier. I got the neck piece installed in the head this way, but there was a lot of wiggle and Exorcist-like head spinning without the spring to hold things tightly together. I got a thick rubber band and wrapped it around the base of the piece inside the head a few times. This made the head way more stable

Maybe this is already a well known hack but I didn't find anything like it in my google search for attaching DDs to Obitsus. It works and will definitely do the job until I get an adapter from Yahoo Japan. Heck, I might not even get an adapter! I'm sorry I don't have pics now but I'll get some this evening

I usually cut the spring shorter, so it still benefits from the spring's tension but doesn't destroy your hands trying to get it together.

Could you possible find a replacement spring that isn't as thick once compressed as the original?

I might be able to replace or cut the spring, but until I can the rubber band seems to be doing the trick. I'll probably have to conscript Mr. xhuxhurocket to get the neck piece with the spring put back together. I just don't have the strength or dexterity.

Here's my new girl- no name and in a temp wig & eyes but still cute as a button, and the vinyl match looks pretty good:

Just going to add that my 07 head on the obi 55 male and 05 head on the obi 50 body are using the obitsu neck pieces, with no springs and no hacks.

they do spin heads if put on an angle or laying down, but nothing horrible. My guess is the neck holes on these heads are small enough to offer some resistance, and posing them is pretty similar to all my other dolls ^×^ just my 2 cents worth

I have more dollfies than my age in years *×*

I recently put a DD head on an Obitsu new neck piece just by using a longer screw purchased at the hardware store. Usually I cut some of the vinyl out of the neck area of the DD head and just push the assembled neck piece through, but this new one was a limited head and I didn't want to cut it. It took some patience, but wasn't impossible.

I used this tutorial from here:
