Cleaning the face without scratching?

Recommended Posts

narihde

I've dug around, but none I have found really cover keeping the face up pristine and unscratched.

I like cleaning my dolls head's after i touch them bare handed, but How should I go about this without a magic eraser?

Recommend cloth types, etc?

If we are talking about a Volks factory face up, then I have cleaned them before with a magic eraser and a bit of water and there were no adverse effects. All I did was dampen the sponge, squeeze out the excess moisture, then carefully pulled the sponge across the head in continuous downward strokes, moving round a bit each time until the whole thing was done. As long ans you don't scrub or use a lot of pressure, it should not scratch.

Volks factory face ups are really hard to remove by accident, I've deliberately removed a couple before and it takes a LOT of effort.

If it's not a factory face up however I would not use this method as in my experience, spray sealants like MSC or Purity Seal come off quite easily and will also go white and cloudy around the ages. For custom face ups I would suggest not touching the face (when positioning, hold the ears or the wig to move) or to use gloves when handling them.

I positioned the eyes today by holding the ears.. It's an obitsu x azone hybrid, and I use MSC for the face up. How would you go about cleaning a msc sealed face up? Its not like it has stains I just want to get off the oil i may have touched it with:/

Weenie

Dish soap works fine for me. Just make sure you don't use anything that has a moisturizer in it or any sort of crazy bright dye in it.
