Weird Neck Hole?

Recommended Posts

Doko

I recently got a new Dollfie Dream directly from Volks and when I noticed that her head felt looser than normally, I took of her head to find this:

The neck hole is cut a bit weird.

I'm just wondering if this is still normal and "acceptable" or if there is anything I can/should do about it?

That does not look right to me. It looks like a manufacturing defect, but also looks like it was cut. If I’m not mistaken you have 14 days after you get the doll to contact Volks with any problems. If you are past the 14 day window, they probably can’t help you. Even if it's past 14 days you could still try contacting them. Good Luck

I did contact Volks about it before 14 days. They said that since the neck holes are cut by hand this is perfectly normal, that the hole is not always round. They said that if the head felt loose I just had to push the head down more on the neck. But it is down as far as it goes and it is still loose.

As it is right now I'm too stressed about the neck hole "tearing"(as it have some cuts going to the sides) and the head becoming more loose if I use/pose it, so right now I can't even touch the head.

I'm really disappointed as the neck hole issue prevents me from enjoying this doll. She also have some other weird things going on with her body but since those things are just look-related and not functionality I didn't even mention them. But with the neck, yeah that is kind of important to me.

What kind of support does Volks have? I mean, what "defects" would they generally help with?

With this weird neck hole, is the value of my dolls head lowered?

I didn't buy her to sell her, I just want to enjoy her, but if I can't even use her or play with her, and every time I even look at her I feel stressed and bad about it, I just don't know what I can do right now.

You might try a couple of wraps of cloth tape around the neck piece where this hole would normally sit, to increase the neck piece's diameter. That might snug it up. Taking a sharp hobby knife and cleaning up some of the flash around the inside of the hole might help too.

Sorry that Volks won't help

One thing I often do is add a little silicon putty (the ear plug stuff) around the neck where the head joins and that keeps it from wobbling around. It even works for super-loose heads like resin types on DD bodies. You could also look into adding apoxie sculpt or something similar around the neckhole for a more permanent solution.

How about using silicone sealant to reduce the hole size (the type you use for DIY)? I've used it in place of nails so I know its super tough stuff.

I had a similar problem with looseness and the opposite problem of too tight. It is worse with the third party alternative neck joints too so that won't help. I ended up using a third party neck joint, removing the head cap, putting the head onto the post, and taping the post to secure the head after the head was attached. That seemed to help.

That is disappointing though that Volks won't help.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.

I'm not as stressed out about it anymore and have started to enjoy her more now.
