Broken neck piece?

Recommended Posts

TheParadisePanda

Well I just got back from a local doll show with an awesome find A dollfie dream II body for $20!!! I literally could not believe it when she said $20! I could barely use the ATM after words I was so excited!

It's stainless and everything is in perfect shape except upon closer examination the neck appears to be broken My main question is. Is there anyway I can fix this?

I went ahead and took her bust off to look at the neck and these are all the pieces that came with it. Is there a piece missing and if so is there anyway I could jury rig it so I could still use a dollfie dream head?

If worse comes to worse I can always order a new neck piece from cool cat but it feels kinda funny buying a neck piece that costs more then I paid for the whole doll itself lol.

I can't really tell from this pictures angle but it looks like the neck piece is fine. It's the holder of the neck piece that looks broken to me. Could you get some pics of the neck area on the bust from a few different angles? That way we can see if the parts that hold the actual ball and neck part are still there.

If those pieces are broken or missing, the Cool Cats piece won't do you any good as it needs the same pieces to attasch to the body as the stock part does.

Even if the neck piece is broken, you still got a great deal on the body. Parts alone are worth 10 times what you paid...

hands = $22 per pair

bust = $33 each

feet = $22 per pair

torso = $33 each

arms = $44 per set

shins = $28 per pair

thighs = $28 per pair

That's $210 in replacement parts right there even if the inner skeleton is broken and cant be fixed to hold a head.

Let us see more pics of the neck area and we can see about getting this fixed!

From what I can see it looks like that is not the right neck part. The piece that is still on the body is too big and there should not be a cut in the neck like that. I may be talking out my butt but it looks like someone changed it so they could put a def head on it. If it where me I would just buy the new neck piece from cool cats. and try to supergue the neck together just to hold the head on till the new part came in. But that is what I would do. Heck even if you droped 100 more dollars on your girl it is still cheaper then buying a new one.

I have seen that before. The metal coil thing hooks into the plastic part. I think it is hard to fix. I am not sure it would stay. I agree that the Cool Cat optional neck joint is a better option. The round ball part that is still attached to the body is part of the neck joint and would be replaced by a Cool Cat neck joint.

I also seem to be having problems with the bust piece not meeting the torso piece correctly. Compared with my brand new DDII the waist joint is really flexible and has a huge gap where it's supposed to meet.

edited to add a few pictures

I have seen that too. I think the two spine pieces aren't "screwed in" all the way.

central spine joint: the arrows point to where the two pieces fit into each other

The trouble is that if you just try to push from the top of the torso and the bottom, it just makes the other lower joints (the ones with the metal screws) move instead of "screwing" the two pieces together. I had a DD with this problem. I had to take her apart and twist the pieces into each other. Then I put her back together. She is much better now.

You shouldn't trade with fenrir z78. His problem is a really big one.

Alright! Nice pics! Mitsuki is right, the neck piece I feared was broken is not! All you need to do to fix that is to get a replacement neck piece from Cool Cats for about $40 and then loosen those screws to pull out the piece that is still there. Once you pull that out, you slide the new ball piece into that area and tighten the bolts back and you're done! That's great that its such an easy fix!

As for the bust piece looking odd, Mitsuki is again correct. The easiest thing to do is take the torso off the top and then lightly sand the peg on the lower half of the body. By doing this you make it easier for the top torso to slide all the way down to where it's supposed to be. But don't use hard sandpaper, use a high number like 600 or 800 grit so you dont tear up the plastic. You may even want to use 1000 grit just to be sure you dont mess anything up. Just scuff it a little bit and then try the torso on it, sanding a little more at each trial fitting. That should fix that problem as well.

You sure did a great deal on this body. Soooo lucky! Go buy a lottery ticket RIGHT NOW!!

I was about ask how in the world I get that waist post to go down like the picture Mitsuki Posted. I had heated it and tried to push it down but I couldn't even get it to budge a cm and when I twisted back and forth the plastic itself wanted to warp and twist. In a way I'm tempted to leave it the way it is, it improves waist movement amazingly lol

If it's super tight I wouldn't leave it like it is. My Manami DDdy BROKE at that spot and I had to repair her. It wasn't easy either but she's back to normal now. Trust me, you DO NOT want that part to break, it's no fun at all.

Just get some 800 or 1000 grit sandpaper and sand that post some. It makes it easier to move the upper torso around and take the DD apart if you need to fix something else.

I took her completely apart cleaned her and re-aligned her internal skeleton and she poses like a dream now I'm so happy! I tried the sand paper trick that was suggested and ta-da instant torso problem fixed

I've really become attached to this dollfie body and I've definitely decided to make her into a character! All she needs is a new neck and a head and she'll be good to go

Awesome! That's so nice to see a DD get rescued and on its way to becoming a character and complete girl! Great job on getting her all fixed up. That's definitely the best deal I've seen yet. Congrats again!

I went ahead and ordered the new neck piece from coolcat along with a swimsuit i'd been eying since I first wanted a dollfie dream As far as heads go I want the HDD-02 head. I'm thinking this new girl is going to be the opposite of the girl I just got for my birthday (and HDD-03 who is still nameless ). I want this lady to be a sexy, tough as nails adventurer with attitude to spare! Goodness knows her body has already proven it's self to be quite tough dealing with this newbies attempts at fixing it Now all thats left to do is think of a name
