hahaha they're the same! yeah, they had 1 Rin and 1 Len but they contacted me and offered me another Len. Mine will arrive after yours because I asked them to change the address and they had to stop the parcel It will be shipped tomorrow or Monday.

Sadly I did not win either and my extra entries for Rin all lost as well. I was able to get an extra Len off someone so I'm currently looking for someone's extra Rin. I'd prefer US location and perhaps some feedback (I can show mine on eBay and MyFig). I can't PM right now, so please e-mail me (its my username at Gmail).

 

And here's a random question: If we go through all this and then in a few weeks Volks e-mails people again about "extra winners" (due to cancellations) would a person get their account banned if they don't pay?

Since Volks says winning emails will be sent out between certain dates, I figure that if it is AFTER the days they say emails will go out, you would not be obligated to buy after that time. Usually they end up offering extra dolls later at other events (as was mentioned by Wolf about Mio Honda). The extra dolls are probably unclaimed lottery dolls, or sometimes overproduction (which has happened with some Volks limited resin dolls, like Emma and Eden, who sat unpurchased in the webstore for six months after the event was over!).

Speaking of, does anyone know if Volks has released any more information about the "Court of Evil" outfits for them or the new dress for Miku Volks mentions at Magical Mirai 2016? Kinda wondering how much time I have to save up for them.

I'd suggest you keep an eye out on our forum Marketplace around the time when you will be able to get your Rin. Sometimes the DD you are looking for randomly pops up and often since it's people within the hobby selling on the forums with like-minded people you can find fullset DD for a better price than Ebay. I got both of my Yui's that way (one was a fullset) and I couldn't be happier. Even if you are still waiting for Rin you can keep an eye on the marketplace to see what her current going rate generally is if they are posted there.

They sent out emails regarding the drawing ahead of time, but I don't recall if they mentioned how withdrawals would be handled in the second lottery.

 

Japanese have one of the highest savings rates, and lowest consumption rates in the world. For their home market it might be unusual for someone who committed to buying a doll to become unable to pay for it three weeks after the first drawing. People there also show profound loyalty to both brands and the stores where they buy them. (At least that's what I have read. I've never lived there.)

 

Destroying their relationship with a business through poor conduct might be almost unthinkable. That may be a part of why Volks is so hard on people who renege on their commitments. It's a different market culture over there, and they may have little patience for western capriciousness in business dealings.

 

When dealing with Japanese I always assume they expect you to honor any commitments to the letter, and failing that can terminate the relationship.

I entered for Mio Honda the first time, and didn't win. I do seem to remember a second lottery, but I didn't get an email about it, and didn't win her in that one either. I do recall reading here that she went up for general sale on the Volks website very briefly after the event, but I missed her there too. I ended up getting her on the secondary market (here) at a very reasonable price.

I'm a really bad sewer so I was holding off on doing this for a while but Rin's ribbon eventually got so floppy that I had no choice if I ever wanted her to wear it properly, so I had to restitch the connecter part back together. The ribbon finally stands up like its supposed to..

but i'm still a little bothered by the slight gap between her headphones and her head. Like I said before, the gap is caused by the buttons that connect the ribbon to the headphones, but they're so bulky it doesnt let the headphones rest flat on her head. But trying to connect it in any other way strains the connecting part to the point where the threads start loosening, or causing the ribbon to not stand properly at all. Maybe this is how its meant to go but I do feel like it could be more snug.

 

People getting their Rins next month, please report back about your own ribbon situations once she graces your households. The photos I've seen from J-twitter seem to indicate that they havent had any issues so I'm wondering if it's just mine or if there's a really simple situation I'm too dumb to figure out ;;

I do agree that the headphone gap is slightly distracting. would be interesting to know if it is simply a defect in yours, or if it's inherent to the line.

It's actually a clear file! There were keyrings of each of these adorable fairy designs in Animate but I couldnt decide which one to get so decided to get the clear file instead so I could have them all, as each keyring was kinda pricey on its own. (I might get just the Kaito though)

And its not entirely offtopic because those are outfits I would absolutely love to see for DD Rin/Len. Too many things I want to commission.

what you could try.. is maybe some double-sided tape? To attach the bow straight on top of the headband w/out needing the loop

 

Or if you want her to ever not wear headphones, just attach that lil loop under the bow to a ribbon or hairclip?

HNG oh god those fairy outfits! . . . I may well have to do a variant of Miku's. I hadn't thought of doing her as a *flirty* fairy before, for some reason, but I've got a pair of green/blue/turquoise wings that would be pretty damn perfect in color for her.

Was thinking similarly on Miku, but what really got me was Luka's All right Volks, if the next announcement after the newest Idolm@asters are shipped isn't Luka, I'm making her myself, no matter what! Also, this the first outfit I've seen Meiko in that actually makes me not dislike her.

Some more info on these two I only learned recently: Now that I have a Miku head, I was able to compare it to Rin's and confirm that Rin's is definitely slightly bigger.It looked bigger in the Volks photos but like I said I wasnt sure if it actually was or if it was an optical illusion caused by Rin's forehead showing.

This is further confirmed by the fact that I can put Kaito's blue smartdoll wig on Miku, but it wont fit on Rin.

I took some pics.

Rin's head does seem to be 'taller' than Miku's slightly. Granted the size of her eyes also makes her head look bigger.

I think the back of her head is slightly bigger?

You can see here that the top of Rin's headcap is higher than Miku's.

I'd really like to compare her to Len and see if its the same.

Thank you for the comparison photos, Torino! It's interesting to see both heads next to each other and photographed from different angles. So far I've seen only one comparison of Rin, Len & Miku heads (and their eyes) on twitter:

 

Unfortunately they don't have their headcaps on, but it'll give some reference until someone has all three heads and provides more extensive comparisons. Rin's head seems to be the biggest but Len may have a slightly higher forehead than her?

 

It'll be interesting to see how Rin and Len will compare to Sheryl's head when I get them home. :'D I'm not that keen on dolls with big heads, but the twins are so cute that hopefully it won't bother me too much. >u<;; They should look fine photographed with my friend's Miku at least, haha. :'3

I'm happy to see that the headcap is slightly bigger and not her face. I was worried to see a significant difference and have a similar surprise like I had with my Makoto (the head is smaller than my Momo's and Miku's, the body is shorter too.... it suits him, he's the shorty of the house but since he will be Len's best friend, I was afraid that Len having a bigger head would look weird next to him, I'm glad that that's not the case!).

 

My Len left Japan today! (I got him from a proxy) that means that he will get here by tomorrow or Wednesday the latest, his wig has not even shipped yet and I won't be able to work on him until who knows when (I'm babysitting my nephew on the weekends, which was my only free time to work on dolls) but I'm so excited!! I wish I'd have gotten Rin too, she steals my heart every time I see her

If it's shipped via EMS and in my experience, no more than 1 day but 2 days could be the most it should take. In this case, Len was accepted on 10/03 at 6pm and left on 10/04 at 6am. Other packages I have received from Volks were accepted and left on the same day. EMS packages shouldn't take more than 1 week to arrive to its destination (I'm from USA so I can't speak for other countries).

My Len, after much headache with wrong addresses, is out of customs now and almost to me.

 

The seller apparently wrote a different address in my name line instead xD

 

I also just upgraded my phone which has a way better camera (my poor dslr broke) so prepare for so much picture spam you guys. PREPARE! If anyone wants to request any specifics throw it at me. I also have a Miku if that helps. And I'm happy to take up close shots or posing shots too since it's a new body.
