Thank you for the reply, It confirms that something is seriously wrong with my wig and I contacted Volks, as there's nothing soft about mine. I threw on a different blonde wig I had sitting around, but I really want the actual one. In the mean time I'm trying to save my current one by a hefty washing regiment.

 

It's from the lottery and I live in Japan, so its no surprise I got mine faster than over seas.

Yeah that's DEFINITELY not like my Rin's o_o I can see what you mean by it looking wet!

That really sucks, I hope they didnt rush these dolls due to how many they had to make... I hope Volks have a decent answer for you, or someone has some suggestions to how to make it not look...like that.

Thanks for posting the image, Hopefully no one else gets a bad wig, I've been reading up on some suggestions online, but I don't really feel comfortable about using boiling water, so I bought some shampoo from the volks store earlier and have been trying to bring it back to life.

 

I think it got dropped in a vat of what ever they use to style it...

The Rin wigs looks like they just used a bit too much wig wax, it's very easy to wash out with just a tiny bit of clear hand soap or you can even just brush it out, when I got Louise her fringe (bangs to Americans) were exactly like that but I just brushed them out with a medium strength toothbrush and it was all gone.

On a side note, I got my Ranka's wig like that too.

 

Yeah, too much wax is more like it.

Anyone with a Len please confirm if your body is the same. I didn't notice it before because I grab him by the hips and not by the head or shoulders. He poses great for me and his torso has not given me any difficulties. Therefore, I believe this is normal (but I'd like to hear your input).

 

I also uploaded a video showing his wig. Thank you Torino for putting my attention on this! I was going to sell it without opening the package, now that I took it out the value will go down because of how it looks.

I got the preorder len, and his wig was really soft, and the little styled bits weren't too overly waxed....I hope the lottery dolls aren't actually that different....That would really suck...

That definitely looks like too much wax stuff. Rinsing it with normal water (ie, not boiling!) will clean it out, but try not to overdo it. The stuff Volks uses isn't the same as their wig wax product because it's more permanent.

 

A long time ago I tried soaking Yaya's default wig because the wig cap stained her ears a bit, from what I read it seemed like a reasonable thing to do. It turns out Volks used some bonding agent to keep these little bundles of hair on the side of her head together where you attach the ribbons (you can see one bundle over her left shoulder alongside a ribbon attached to it). There was actually some thread keeping it together too, but the thread came undone and afterwards the whole area was kind of, well not sticky put I could tell there was some bonding stuff there that was washed away (fortunately just one side). I had to tie up a new thread there myself.

 

I kept her wig in a small tub of water for, not sure, 24 hours? So I suggest just putting the ends of the hair in some water for ~10 minutes, see how it softens up, and repeat (maybe 15 or 20 minutes next time). Don't put her whole wig in water, just the stuff you want to clean.

I hope its an easy fix for the wig then!

 

re: Len's body, the part where his upper torso connects to the bottom torso -is- pretty loose. Not enough that it'll come off on its own or make him unable to hold certain poses, it just seems to come off easy and shows a gap more when he bends, unlike the girl body. It's not something I'm concerned about because I dont really intend to take shirtless gravure pics of him, but the part where they separate does look a little odd to me. It could just be that I'm used to the smartdoll body where the separation is right under his abs, making it look more natural.

 

On another note, I thought it looked a bit lose so I titghtened it...which actually made him a little shorter than Rin, so I had to loosen it a bit more. I thnk i showed it in the unboxing video but that needs a whole load of editing; the sound is really bad and im not sure how to increase the volume. I might just take my voice out entirely and add subtitles or something.

I carefully used some wig shampoo on the ends while soaking it and what ever gunk was clumping it came out and I have a usable wig again .

I fixed mine too, at least it's not a problem you can't easily fix. ^^

 

As for the body, I have received confirmation from others that it should be that way (floppy in the middle) I think it works because it gives him a lot of flexibility so it doesn't bother me.

I haven't received a shipping notice for my Rin either. But I am hoping she shows up tomorrow morning. I kind of want to take her trick or treating.

VOLKS shipped out my Len and Rin together. Together they reached Singapore. Together they reached the custom...

 

...until somehow they got separated on the way to 2nd processing facility.

 

So Len reached me first today, and Rin shall be tomorrow. argh

My order page on Volks still hasn't updated the shipping info so I'm hoping to hear something tomorrow. I've never had them send me something without sending the tracking number and it would piss me off if they did. We have to sign for every package from Japan, China, or Korea and some other international packages, but if no one answers the door we have to schedule a pick up at the post office all the way across town, taking another day or two.

 

I wonder if they are shipping out the Rin & Len winners first and then will get to the Rin or Len winners after that? Perhaps it's by location? I really have no idea other than with the preorder girls they surely don't go by 'first ordered, first served' from my very irritated past experience. I don't know if they do it any different for lottery.

 

I just know I'm tired of panicking that somehow something went wrong and I won't get Len (usually I panic that somehow I stupidly forgot to pay for him, only to remind myself that the payment was removed from our account.)

I have not gotten a notice either, i wont both rin and len, paid i think the last day. Im hoping soon because i put in a cancellation to my lease..I was hoping they will ship out soon ;__;
