Awesome, LordNoir! Can't wait to see the pic spam of them. I'm kind of curious what VS's temporary wig is going to look like.

I am rather curious about how you plan to attach the tail as well. I wasn't planning on doing tails for any of my girls. I don't tend to be much of an anthro fan, so my plans are simply to make them human.

 

I actually just put all the gals on order at VolksUSA last night, so I'm hoping they'll be arriving in a couple of weeks. Four face-ups at once! XD

In all honest Poofiemus, I don't understand how someone couldn't be into MLP =P though in truth I only really got interested in the last month or so.

It is always and odds on chance that anything I do in this hobby will be done to my one of my Mashiro brigade ^_^

 

As for attaching the tail, I would most likely do it in a similar way to how Mashiro's is attached. Just a strip of fabric to go round the waist. This approach would probably make the tail just hang down though, rather than having any sort of volume to it. I guess there could perhaps be wire in the waist strap and the base of the tail, not sure quite how that would work if the tail is made similar to a wig.

Alternatively, I might attach the tail directly to the outfit, as I doubt I will have any reason to use it other than for my Rainbow Dash 'fullset'.

 

Hooray for your order LordNoir, very interested to see how your girls are going to turn out. Also intrigued to see the pony eyes, I would be interested in getting some of them if my outfit plans are a success.

Hmm... I may have a couple of ideas for a solution for this. The fact that you're thinking 1:3 scale and for all intents and purposes a "display" only doll and not a costume that has to survive a day at a convention helps too.

 

Idea 1:

Fosshape is a thermal plastic that I've used many times in cosplay (and my sister used it in one of her menswear designs). It's like felt but when you heat it with an iron or heat gun (hair dryer won't work) against a form it will take that shape permanently - and you can use anything as a "form" - a tin can, a garbage pail, a hat block The advantage of Fosshape over another thermal-plastic is that you can SEW through it.

 

So if you build a waist harness for the tail, but sew a strip if shaped Fosshape to it and somehow build the tail around that it'll give a shape. However it won't be posable - whatever shape you give it is what it'll have. The sample size I linked would be plenty for you to work with to see if it'd work.

 

Idea 2:

My Miruya wig as a couple of twin-tails that attach using mini claw-clips. If you design the outfit with something (a bit of ribbon with a couple of knots in it would work even) that the claw could clip to, you could get quite a voluminous tail this way because you'd get the upturned flip.

Well, since these are dolls rather than people, the magic of magnets may be something to consider: Tape one magnet to her lower spine under the clothes, then use some epoxy putty to attach the other to some wire or a pipe cleaner. Glue your hair onto said wire or pipe cleaner, then sandwich the costume between the two magnets.

 

Does anyone know when Brony Appreciation Day is? I think it would be hilarious to all post Pony related photos on that day when it comes up. XD

Brony Appreciation Day is July 15th, so we have plenty of months to plan all gals for the event. ^^

Yeah, I'm glad to have that much time too. Agatha probably won't get dressed up for it (she doesn't get the whole pony thing), but I'm toying with the idea of dressing Nanoha up as Celestia. I'll have to draw up some different dresses and see if anything cool comes to mind.

Hmm.. I came home today and found a box on my doorstep with my gals in it. ^^

They aren't in their permanent wigs(save Octavia) and none of them have their permanent eyes from Ersa Flora yet, but what do you all think?

Not yet. ^^ I've actually really thought of doing tramp-stamp tattoos for them, but for now the plan is to get them charm necklaces or shirts with their cutie marks on them. Just give it time...

Not that I'm down with the MLP's or anything but I just had to say that the girl in the picture above on the far left is just amazing to me. That look on her face is so nice! I love the eyes and that wig color just works so well with her light skin and eyes. I would love to see some better pics of her if at all possible.

I should hopefully be getting project dash underway soon, I get paid on monday, and then I can start the ball rolling... which reminds me I should really finalise my design/plans XD

Do you have a wig for Rarity yet?

 

I saw this on ebay which might work, but it seems the wrong color purple.

 

There's also this one but it would need styling.

 

I decided to go the easier route and order a custom wig from Happy Camille in December, it just came in yesterday.

 

Also, good news pony fans! ^^ It seems my herd may be expanding quite a bit... even Ichiko and Haru-Haru want to get in on being pony-fied.

I like that wig. It has the bounciness and fullness I'd expect of Rarity's hair.

 

It's really soft too. ^^ I couldn't stop playing with it yesterday. She really looks much more like a proper lady now.

Still pondering a Celestia cosplay for Nanoha. I know I'll probably be doing Sculpy magnetic horn and craft foam wings, but still kind of waffling on the rest. I'm thinking craft foam again for the crown, necklace, and armor/bracelet thingies, but am also considering Apoxie Sculpt. I also haven't committed to a dress design yet. But I gotta stop waffling and start gathering fabric/supplies if I want to get this thing done by July for Brony Appreciation Day!

I did, and I do have it. ^^ it looks awesome. However, Scratch is off visiting my friend at the moment ( she's fallen in love with the DD girls so she wanted to play with Scratch a bit to get a feel for the DD structure. I tend to be the inabler in my local group. XD)

Hey Jez, are you making the Rainbow Dash wig yourself or are you having it made custom somewhere? I am curious because a RD girl will probably wind up in my cart so I know she'll need a wig.
