Keijogirl Posted September 20, 2015 If that person were real, I think they would be hilariously deluded to actually think you can steal upwards of $500 from someone and have them and the community not feel some type of way about it. I mean really. Lol I think that's a person either trolling or doing that recast parallel. Anyone active in the community would KNOW how much goes into a doll and wouldn't steal someone's doll At Home: Kiyo, Hikaru , Nikko, Komaki, Miho, Kana-chan, Tamakits, Illya, Misa, Deku, Nao, Zana, Ciri, Aki, Alisa, Kana, Yuka, Kiki, Komaki (Oni Mode), Ai, Chili, Nagisa, DDh03, Erica, Miyabi, Jun, Haruka, Sasha, and Laila Saving for: Accessories! Keijogirl Posted September 21, 2015 I agree this person is probably trolling, but I have heard of doll thieves and while it's rare, it does happen unfortunately. I've also had the misfortune of meeting people who while they aren't interested in dolls, would have no issue with stealing from others if there was something they really wanted. Sadly enough, you're right. I had a run in once where someone tried to steal my friend's doll while we were in a store during a busy part of the holiday season. Had our backs turned briefly and the person came up and started walking off with our cart. Her doll very much plainly in view. I grabbed the cart and the person just kept walking didn't look or say "Oh, my mistake" just let go and kept walking away quickly. I don't doubt that people wouldn't steal, a lot of people who do steal don't put much thought into how much what they're stealing means to the person they're taking it from. All that matters is that it's theirs now. Anywho, thankfully its a pretty niche hobby, not too many people would think a big doll is very valuable most people think they're like 50 bucks i have found xD At Home: Kiyo, Hikaru , Nikko, Komaki, Miho, Kana-chan, Tamakits, Illya, Misa, Deku, Nao, Zana, Ciri, Aki, Alisa, Kana, Yuka, Kiki, Komaki (Oni Mode), Ai, Chili, Nagisa, DDh03, Erica, Miyabi, Jun, Haruka, Sasha, and Laila Saving for: Accessories! RingoXD Posted September 26, 2015 To agree with the other posters, it's possible that the original poster is a troll. But I have encountered people with that sort of mentality, who haven't been taught right from wrong or even they don't care about the consequences or feel like they don't apply. If a person did actually find a expensive doll per say, I don't think they would be completely ignorant of it's value. Or if I was to think about it more deeply, I can only see a person doing this if they wanted this person's doll in particular and low balling an offer to purchase it which was rejected. After probably being told that this person couldn't afford this doll(not for sale). They bid their time until they had the opportunity to steal it, however it seems to be a contradiction. They would know that they can't reveal themselves to the community because they would be caught immediately, but they still want to revel in the fact the have gotten something for nothing and want to be praised for their mentality. Very sad, I know.
jazijaz Posted October 2, 2015 Even if it is a troll, it happens and it could happen to you. I'm very possessive and careful with my dolls. If I go to a meet up I would just take one or two and they would never leave my hands because I trust no one.

orlien Posted December 18, 2015 Wow - not only are they admitting to theft, but they then try to flip the blame around and blame others for "judging" their illegal and immoral act. disgusting. It's crazy - it's a little bit like how art heists from museums are not necessarily a good source of cash for any thieves who would be able to pull them off. If a painting is sufficiently famous, it would be really difficult to sell even on the black market. missadventure364 Posted December 19, 2015 Whoa! It's hard to believe that some people can feel absolutely no remorse from stealing something from someone- especially such a valuable something. While I never let anything valuable out of my sight in a public place I understand how crazy conventions are- and regardless there's no excuse for stealing someone's property. Too bad no one knew at the convention that the doll was stolen. I may be a little extreme in my reactions to that kind of stuff, but I think if I had a doll taken I'd probably not let anyone leave the building until she was returned. Did anyone ever figure out who this was or what doll was stolen? I'm interested in finding out now if the owner of the doll ever got him or her back. I really hope someday the thief is caught. If the original owner would come forward and post pictures of the stolen doll maybe we can all keep a watch out on websites like eBay and other forums and make sure we don't see him or her being sold anywhere. Monty Posted December 19, 2015 As was pointed out already, I'm 99% sure it's a troll confession that is parodying the attitude of people who are pro-recast who complain about being excluded and looked down on, and they are making the comparison between knowingly buying a bootleg doll to get out of having to pay full price for a legit one (stealing someone's art and intellectual property) to stealing a doll (physically stealing someone's property). Gotta admit, that is how they sound sometimes... Edit- that said I HAVE heard of dolls being stolen, and often. It's just that the people who do it aren't dumb enough to brag about it or question why people would look down on them for it. I haven't had anything so expensive stolen from me at a con, but I did lose a small plushie. Sure, it could have fallen on the ground, but neither lost and found nor cleanup staff found it, so if someone didn't take it from me it was finders keepers apparently. Oh and I've been selling art at cons in the artist alley and we regularly get told to watch for sticky fingers. I've been lucky, but friends have definitely had badges and small things stolen from their tables by people who don't seem to think artists are worth paying when they want something. It makes me so angry, not because they missed out on the $2 or so that the badge cost, but because there are people who have that little respect for others and think them wanting something entitles them to it. *twitter*instagram*art*
Mythterious Posted December 19, 2015 This is what the world is coming to. People with the entitlement mentality. "I don't have to buy it. If I take it, it's mine." This is also the thief mentality. "What's mine is mine, and what's yours is mine." People who think the world owes them something when they haven't actually done anything to contribute is one of the things that really grates on my nerves. If you want something, work for it. Don't take something from someone else just because you want it and think they can afford it once, so they can get another one. I should stop ranting now. If I keep going, my mouth is gonna get me in trouble.
missadventure364 Posted December 21, 2015 I thought this might be a troll post too and saw that others had said so as well. Just wondering if anyone had heard anything about whether it was true or not, or had heard anything previously. I hope that it was just someone trolling, but regardless of whether it was or wasn't I'm sure that it could and has happened before. You can never be too careful, and the fact that someone would even think to post something like this shows that the thought of doing such a thing is out there. No one deserves to have anything stolen from them, regardless of whether it's an expensive item or not.
