You can paint directly onto the lenses, though personally I prefer to do them in Photoshop, and glue the prints onto the lenses instead. Just be sure to seal the prints with MSC or Testor's or some other clear spray before gluing so the ink from the print doesn't run. All three of my DDs wear eyes I did this way--printed on acetate and covered the iris with Pearl-ex and other sparkly stuff before I glued them on to the lenses. The only reason Homura doesn't is because her eyes are painted right onto her head. XD Nanoha in 24mm: Agatha in 18mm: Miku in 20mm: Hope this helps you out!
