I like the skin but atm with no face-up i am not sure on it.(my be my screen but she looks more grey in tone.)

I think she looks incredible, I'm so excited to see more of her! I posted in the Ebony thread about the post but looks like our posting was only a few minutes apart;; I've deleted my post now.

Although I'm really curious what the release schedule is between her, Chitose and Eiji. I thought Chitose was meant to come out before Harmony, so it concerns me a little that we've seen nothing regarding her.

I would think this one is easier to do then Chitose since shes a hole new doll and this is just a recolour of a old one.

 

i would think it would be after Chi/Enji but it will depend on the out call of buyers wanting Harmony sooner.

I'm not sure of it. Danny mentioned that the dark skin is harder to work with, so making her faceup can happen to be a greater challenge than anyone could expect.

if anything i would love to see some green and purple girls. i would not mind making a Night elf from wow if they did =o

Red makes me think of:

Indeed quite a few demon girls will be popping out of the cracks soon i think.

Super dark skin, awesome! So many companies that do tan skin stop at a light brown color, so I'm glad to see this :3 The dark color really makes the eye color pop in that mock-up, Error-chan.

thank you. I did not know what colour to use so I just played with it until the mix was pretty (in my opinion.)

 

I would love to see a blonde wig on her I do love that mix of skin tone and hair.

Yeah, see, I don't like this skin tone if she's supposed to be a realistic color. It's too all over solid/same or something. Real people with dark skin have variations in tone on different body parts. As a fantasy color, like for a drow, sure, I like it.

??? All of the lighter skin dolls have solid color too, even though skin color variation shows up more on lighter skin. It would be good if her palms and soles of her feet were lighter, but it's not like they can be cast that way (though I've never heard anyone complain about that for other dark skin dolls including Ebony)

I dunno, I just don't think she looks like a realistic color at all. It's just my opinion. I like Ebony but Harmony looks as fake to me as the red girl.

I think it'll be easier to see how 'realistic' she looks once the faceup is done, but I have no complaints at all at this point. I was actually shocked at how realistic the skin tone seemed to me as I expected just a generic 'darker chocolate brown', but to each their own.

I don't know if its my screen but harmony does look more grey then anything. the tone is not natural in my eyes. when i was drawing on it it has a more red tone to it then the orange/brown i would expect so maybe he need to tweak it on the colour scale a bit.

From what I remember, Danny actually color-matched Harmony to an image of an black model... and I think her skin tone is fabulous and realistic.

 

She looks like this woman from South Sudan, or this woman from Tanzania, or these Kenyan models (esp. slides 1, 2, 4, and 5), or these boys, or this girl, or any of these people...

 

There is a ton of diversity when it comes to dark skin tones, and there are a lot of colors other than "warm brown" out there (remember, Africa contains the most human genetic diversity anywhere on Earth).

 

Personally, I'm so glad that Danny chose a skin tone we don't see represented as often for Harmony. I ended up skipping Ebony in the hopes that I would love Harmony, and I do -- I can't wait to add her to my collection.

i found that Harmony just seem more purple then anything which is why i see it more of a "fantastic colour" i know the spectrum of skins is very hard to pick one colour and lighting and reflective light must be taken into account but her base colour is just off to me. i have done some screen shots to show what i mean.

 

I only used some refs above linked but most of what i found trying to avoid the shiny parts of skin where lighting and environment changes it still holds it higher in the colour plate then Harmony's skin.

 

 

this is all my opinion again and i wont be looking to get her ever so its just my outsider opinion on the over all item.

Oh and update on my end.. partner thinks she will make a lovely Drow so she will be added to his list XD

Danny did mention he increased the exposure on the pictures so her features would show up better, so that might have something to do with it. I agree with Cauldroness.

I really like Harmony's colour and I do think it's plenty realistic.

I'm very curious to see her face-up though, with her skin that dark it'll be difficult to make it as vivid as the other dolls, also the sealant might make the head appear lighter than the rest of the body.

 

I'm very interested but still on the fence since my main goal is to make a custom Muramasa Sansei, who's skin tone would be similar to Lupita Nyong'o, (or at least that's the ideal colour that I'd want to use for her), and I have no idea if Danny is planning on more skin tones in a natural range or what.

 

Also there's the issue of head sculpts, or lack there of, I know he worked really hard on Mirai's sculpt but I think he's pushing it a bit now with the amount of dolls he's realising with the one head, would also prefer if I could opt out of the default clothing to save some money since I have no interest in the t-shirt and jeans set. It just seams if the doll aren't limited he doesn't need to sell them as fullsets like volks does.
