Smart doll Harmony. (info/image thread)

Also there's the issue of head sculpts, or lack there of, I know he worked really hard on Mirai's sculpt but I think he's pushing it a bit now with the amount of dolls he's realising with the one head, would also prefer if I could opt out of the default clothing to save some money since I have no interest in the t-shirt and jeans set. It just seams if the doll aren't limited he doesn't need to sell them as fullsets like volks does.

 

I agree on this! I would love to see some new heads. I'd get an Ebony and a Harmony if I could get different heads, but how many times do I want the same head mold (I already have a Mirai)? Two is about my maximum for a head mold I adore, and I just don't adore Mirai's head.

 

...also, if you ever get a Smart Doll girl and don't want the clothing, just let me know! I'll happily take them off your hands (except for Mirai's orange shirt, as I hate orange).

Oh and update on my end.. partner thinks she will make a lovely Drow so she will be added to his list XD

I can't wait to see more official shots for Harmony in different lighting. I'm trying to decide on Ebony vs Harmony for an OC of mine.

I hope Danny does at least one skin tone between Ebony and Harmony ^^

i found that Harmony just seem more purple then anything which is why i see it more of a "fantastic colour"

It might be your monitor, because dark colours especially tend to go into weird hues. On my main monitor, which is calibrated and a superset of sRGB, the things in your pic don't look that different. On my cheap laptop — which is also calibrated but can only display a subset of sRGB — I can see more of what you're talking about.

 

It's like with this photo, shot as-is there was nice warmth and tones in the background, but when I converted it to sRGB for export (I work in ProPhoto RGB), the colour got sucked right out >_< Which is just as well because my cheap laptop couldn't see those colors anyway. I ended up processing the image to have more warmth but it still doesn't show the dark, soft details in the background, or the subtle, dark texture on her dress

So Harmony is faceuped! Eyes and hair not final so it looks like the faceup is?

A Kizuna-Mirai face-up mix again... Ok, I give up.

I think Harmony, Ebony, and Ivory have identical face-ups, actually. I'm a little annoyed with that... we're re-using the same head mold and the same face-up?

Yes, they have identical face-ups. And the H.E.I. trinity are a Mirai face-up with Kizuna eyeshape. It is really boring now. No news.

Let us wait for the final face up!! I think they will be really lovely!! ^__^

She looks muuuch better with a faceup. The blushing gives life and takes away the flat/fake look for me. It was never that she was too dark to me, it was that she didn't have the glow of real skin, but the blushing helps.

It'd be nice if Danny would do some proper flash photography though, the lighting he's using is adding strange reflections of colour >_

I don't think I personally like Harmony as a regular doll. I think (as others have mentioned) fantasy will suit her quite well though and really wanna see her with light hair and makeup to contrast with such a deep skintone. I guess I will just have to wait for more pictures of her. I think maybe even a light blue eye would improve her appear for me.

I like this face up better than the one Danny gave her and the bright purple eyes enhance her face more than the dark green eyes.

 

A dark skin tone like this needs to have lighter and bright colors for the face up, I particularly adore the white lines! with the right face up and lots of blushing, she would look really cute!

I think it looks pretty damn weird and not really natural looking at all...

 

Also they need to get some faceup variety, I love my Mirai but as it stands right now theres no reason to buy a 2nd smart doll for me, they all look too similar

Chitose is going to have a different sculpt. I like Harmony and definitely want one- but it would be nice if Danny adjusted her sculpt a bit too so it was also a little different from Mirai/Kizuna/Ebony/Ivory.

I feel like Chitose is sadly, all of the aspects I dislike about Mirai made more extreme, and all the parts I do like about Mirai minimized or removed entirely... I'd love to get a dark-skinned Smart Doll to pair with my Mirai, but I suspect even a "Harmony Chitose" (assuming Danny makes one) is not going to be right for me either.

I feel like Chitose is sadly, all of the aspects I dislike about Mirai made more extreme, and all the parts I do like about Mirai minimized or removed entirely... I'd love to get a dark-skinned Smart Doll to pair with my Mirai, but I suspect even a "Harmony Chitose" (assuming Danny makes one) is not going to be right for me either.

I don't think you understood what I meant at all.

 

I know Harmony is the Mirai sculpt. I own a Mirai; it's reaaaally obvious they're the same head. I was saying, even if Danny makes a dark-skinned Chitose -- a "Harmony Chitose" so to speak -- I wouldn't be interested in buying that doll either.

I think a lot of people forget that Danny doesn't want you to buy every single one of his dolls. I can't remember where he said it, but I seem to remember him once saying something like he'd rather people just buy the one they like best than try to collect them all. When you look at it that way, most of them having the same head sculpt makes sense - you're just choosing the variant of it that works for you.

Not that there's anything wrong with buying them all if you really want to.

 

(Of course, there are people that don't like the head sculpt and aren't buying for that reason, not because their ideal variant is yet to appear, but who knows what happens in future once CJ has more funds)

I'll probably end up buying Chitose and ebony too at some point. I'm not a huge fan of Eiji, but I feel like I only really need one Mirai sculpt lol xD

 

I might consider Harmony. I think the color he had in the preview looked good for maybe a Drow or something (Oh man how much I would love to have a Drow girl) but I think it could be toned more naturally and maybe have some option colors like the current one available (and ruby??) Separately at some point. My problem is that I love dolls with interesting sculpts and don't want too many the same, but with my luck they usually end up being the more expensive ones *weeps*

 

Time will tell I guess!

Is it just me or is the skin tone a tad lighter and warmer than before? I love it - she's definitely on my must-get list to round out my OC collection. It would also be great if she came with some kind of natural hair style, to save me some hunting, haha. The Smart Doll eye and mouth shape is perfect for her :3
