My new Yui after some fixing up. (NSFW Dollie Semi-Nudity)

Ok she actually arrived in July, but she needed some fixing up before posting. This is a bit long, and a bit image heavy because I am using this to show what can be done with a used doll and some effort.

 

Yui was purchased in this condition. The stains on her waist wrapped all the way around like a belt, and the ones on her head wrapped all the way around as well. The photos don't show it but she had a circular stain in the center of her head cap a little bigger than a dime too. Everything else was mint except her Geeta is missing a two of its tuning pegs. I may be able to cast new ones with modeling resin using one of the exiting ones to make a mold.

 

Yui agreed to be photographed without her hair and clothing in the hopes that other used dolls might be rescued from the shelves of used anime fandom stores. Also on the condition that she got to wear her heart print pantsu in the photos.

 

 

 

I felt her feet were a total loss so I replaced them with new feet from Volks using a procedure I found here: https://fujiwarayukino.wordpress.com/2011/08/28/the-adventures-of-fujiwara-yukino-tutorial-01ddii-foot-replacement/

 

I was unable to find any way to remove the vinyl foot part from the internal frame without cutting, and putting the new feet on required using a very worn and round edged flat bladed screwdriver as a shoe horn. I had blisters when I was done, so if you aren't up for a lot of hard work getting new feet on I recommend buying them with the frame included. The old feet are now clothing stain testers.

 

 

I used dream rescue to remove the stains from her head and body. All told it took about two weeks of stain removal to get the worst of the stains off. It probably would have been easier to replace the torso part, but I wanted to keep as many of her original parts intact as possible.

 

There is still a slight discoloration of the vinyl on the back of her head below the Volks trademark, but that seems to be fading as time passes. It's not a stain, but seems more like a spot where the vinyl was affected by the presence of the dye.

 

 

There is also a slight discoloration on the head cap where the stain was.

 

 

 

With her new coolcats protective gear equipped Yui is again ready to face the outfit that so badly stained her. (I can't know for sure it was her default outfit, but the location of the stains fit the tights and the wig both of which are black fabric.) She's now worn the outfit & wig for over a month with no stains.

 

 

 

My only final thought is all the work I put into fixing her up has gotten me quite attached to her. Given the amount of staining seeing them disappear was quite a triumph, and I feel a good deal of pride in showing her off here.

She looks beautiful, and very happy!!

I had such good luck with Dream Rescue in the past that when I saw Yui I decided to try my hand at fixing a badly stained doll that had the stains for a long time. I watched her sit on Mandarake for months before I bought her, and I have no idea how long she was there before I saw her. I wasn't sure it would work and it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I noticed was that in a few spots like the back of her head and the top of her head the vinyl was an orange color after stain removal. Those patches matched exactly where the stains were. They have faded almost to nothing on their own as time has passed.

 

After I removed the original feet I saw that the soles of her feet were stained all the way through, so replacing them was almost certainly the only way to fix them.
