Massive DD weapon check!

As most people here know, my DD girls like their weapons. As such, I try to get them nice ones so they can protect themselves and their home when the Battle Maid Brigade gets called upon.

 

My latest weapon purchase brought home the truly HUGE sword/gun thing from God Eater and that got me thinking.... is this the biggest weapon I have now? Are any of the others as long or heavy and unwieldy as this thing?

 

So to figure that out, I brought out all the biggest weapons my girls have and did some pics showing how they compare to each other in size and scale. Beccas Yoko wanted to help out so she's going to be our model to show how well these weapons can be used and posed with.

 

Let's get started by meeting our model Yoko. She's wearing a Kyubey kigurumi for Halloween.

While this first weapon isn't really massive or huge, I wanted to include it so that you can see what a normal sized weapon looks like with one of the girls. This way, when you see the really big ones, you'll know why they're termed as huge. From here on, I'll show weapons from smallest to largest as far as length goes. So after this sword, they only get longer!

 

This is the Black Excalibur from Saber Alter. It's like a typical sword and easy for the girls to hold and pose with. Yoko can hold it with one hand and support it with the other like so:

It's light enuff to also hold over her head with one hand with no problem.

Now we move on to the larger weapons. First up is Aestus Estus from Saber Extra. As you can see, this sword is taller than Yoko is. Luckily, they made it hollow so the weight is kept down, making it easier to hold on to.

Just like with Excalibur, Yoko can hold Aestus across her front easily.

Unfortunately, Aestus is so long that you can't have the girls hold it straight out in front of them because the weight makes the arm drop down or throw off her balance too much. But you can still do cool poses with it like this to keep things balanced.

"Yay! Now it's time for MY favorite weapon!"

 

Yep, this is Boomer, Yoko's monster rifle from the anime. Here, she's using the strap to carry it across her back.

This is about an inch longer than Aestus is and weighs about the same. The balance is off a bit more tho due to more weight being back near the stock and trigger.

Even tho Yoko can't hold the gun straight out in front of her, she can still easily support it enuff to do posing like this.

"What's wrong with this thing? It's got gun parts AND sword parts!?"

 

Heh, that's the God Eater weapon. I'm not sure of it's name so we'll just call it Thumper.

This thing is truly MASSIVE. It weighs about the same as a full MDD girl! Yoko can barely hold it up on her own....

 

"OOF! This stupid thing is HEAVY!"

This is longer than all the others so far but not THE longest. But it IS the heaviest and bulkiest for sure. I tried my hardest to get Yoko to hold it up in some type of attack pose but she just couldn't do it. Maybe if her arm joints were super stiff should could pull something off but it just wouldn't work for us as she is. I need some type of secondary stand in order to be able to get any pics of cool attack poses.

Nope, we have 2 left to go.

 

"Whaaaat? I can't handle any more weapons that are bigger than THIS silly thing!"

 

I promise the next one isn't nearly as bad dear.

See? This is Kanu Unchous Green Dragon Crescent Blade. It's hollow for the most part but the blade end is a bit heavy making it hard to pose in certain ways.

As you can see, it's very long but still not the longest I have. It actually breaks down into 4 parts.... the blade, the dragon head and then the shaft is 2 pieces.

This staff can be used in many action poses due to the lightness. You can even do poses like this so she can carry it a bit more easily.

"What's this silly looking thing?"

 

That is the plasma sword KOSMOS uses in Xenosaga.

Trust me, it's a sword. Sit down and I'll tell you how it works.

"Whoa! The sides split open and slid back!"

 

Yep. Now grab the handle and pull the trigger to activate the blade.

If you didn't figure it out yet, this thing is truly crazy big. The weight balance is way off, making it almost impossible to hold outward in any pose. It's base is really thick and heavy while the green blade part is very thin and light. It takes some doing but you CAN get poses like this where it looks like Yoko is about to slash thru a tank.

Actually, I just found a reaaaaaally old photo, this is actually the day I got her (my first DD ^^). I was too chicken at the time to put on her default set because of staining

I love all the weapons.

 

I'm trying to keep Yoko from looking at the screen and telling me she needs more of them! One giant Boomer is enough for now, Yoko, we live in an apartment after all.

 

Though, I suppose I could agree to a few swords, if girls with the proper equipment were to come in to our home...

These look amazing! The scale is perfect

Loving the weapons I'm seeing for DD's both locally & on these sites. Loving the images of 6118, 6121 with how she's holding them blades; 6130 & 6131 for that neat 'guard' pose + it being Kanu's weaponry; & 6138 for being a cute shot.

 

Wishing I could share my own with Varakitsu finally holding her blade. I guess I have to wait a little while longer until I can get a modernized take on it to finally get commissioned & displayed by Vara's hands. Quite a few original designs I'm wanting to give her. Such a shame I can't share any.

 

Pistachio has some nice lovely blades. One of them was made in Spain with a Bratislava Castle crest on it. I'd love to get one of those for a Slovakian reference heh. Nice stuff, Billy (Was also wanting to get 'Sakura's Crimson Blade', yet turned away from that.)

Wouldn't be messing with anyone in your household, safe to say!

Thanks about Yoko but she isn't mine. I do have a Yoko but this one belongs to my GF. She changed out the eyes and wig as soon as she got her home. I personally can't see my Yoko without her default eyes but I do really like blues in her, they work really well. And thanks about the rifle, it's one of my favorite weapons too.

Thank you! I'm betting your Yoko would be just as happy with some smaller guns like pistols, maybe hook her up that way instead of another huge gun. And swords rule! Having girls who know how to use them is a plus as well tho.

Thank you very much about the photos, I'm glad you liked them! As for her weapon, you should check with Battrastard here, he is amazing with metal weapons.... I'm betting he could make you a sword for Vara and have it turn out awesome. I'm still wanting that Flame Sword of Sakuyas.... one day it will be mine!

No way any strangers will make it out alive if they show up here. Thanks about the pics, I appreciate it. I'll let my GF know about Yoko too since everyone seems to really like her look. My Yoko changes wigs on occasion but she keeps her default eyes all the time. Hers is a different look for sure but I like it a lot too.

Blades can be found in scale as letter openers. There are numerous places to find them. Most are made out of metal so they will be heavier than their Volks/DD plastic counterparts. But you can't beat them for detail and overall looks. Just check the length to make sure the blade is in scale with your doll.

Likewise there are numerous sources for 1/3 scale firearms in both plastic and metal. Some are kits to be assembled, others come complete. This is one of the widest selections I've found. They can be pricey but indispensable when the zombies are at your door.

I'm really into weapons for my girls and even tho Volks ones are the most expensive ones around, I still love them for the details and styles. I'm so wanting that giant flame sword of Sakuya's.... I NEEEED IT!

 

As you saw from K-2, there are plenty of alternatives for nice looking weapons. Hopefully you'll find something you like at a good price!

Nice collection. I have for my girls a quiet big collection too. A lightsaber (converted from those star wars chopsticks), two Glocks, a M-14 sniper rifle (dragon models), two a little bit oversized katana (from doyusha) and shinai (from nine circles) and finally a P-90 from Tc Doll.

As far as weight goes, there's NOTHING even close to the KOSMOS gatling guns! I was able to get one for Xmas this year and it is truly massive. But it's not as long as most of the swords in these pics are. Still, it's huge and impressive and I love it! I guess I need to do an update here showing how big it is compared to the other weapons....

Ha ha! So very true! Your Maria looks super cute, even with the Bringer of Death in her hands. You're right about that thing being pointy.... I actually stabbed my hand with mine and drew blood! It seems my Saber Nero wanted a blood pact with me so she got it.
