American Girl/Our Generation Accessories

Recommended Posts

Pink-Yoshi

Hi! I don't have any dolls yet and I was going through the American Girl website and was wondering if they're accessories are a good fit for DDs. Mainly wondering about things like the beds, chairs, just general furniture and food. Wondering about the Our Generation (Target's version of AG) accessories too! I'm always at Target looking at all the OG stuff but its hard to know if it'll work when I don't even have a doll yet >.<

If you have anything by them that would help so much Pictures will really really help too.

Most of the props (Gracie's beautiful cafe cart!!) are better suited to MDD's since AG girls are 1:4 scale

The beds might work for DD's, but I don't think they will be able to lie flat.

We took MDDs to the AG store here!

They are fairly close to the AG scale of things

Many small props (food, tea sets & similar) will work just as well for DDs. This sandwich actually came from a AG picnic basket set

Beds are perfect for MDDs, with chairs it depends on the chair itself... sometimes it is juuuust right for DD

Once again, Her Grace demonstrates

Most often tho, it's best for MDD such as this wheelchair

Thanks for the pics, Chise! How do the store personnel feel about people bringing non-AG dolls into the store to try items for scale? I've taken BJDs to AG before but didn't quite have the guts to take a doll out!

I would imagine they have mixed feelings about it, but a sale is a sale, no matter which doll it is for!

Absolutely nobody paid us any mind. It may have helped we were there on the weekend when the store was insanely busy... They have a "doll salon" and a Cafe: store was filled to the brim with girls and their dolls and mothers...

We pretty much blended right in!

I personally had a blast as ALL THE THINGS are out on display for you to touch & test and whatnot...

If you aren't too comfortable bringing your doll in - there's plenty of ways to cheat this. Just bring a piece of her (hands or full arm to test against small props) or do a full body outline on paper & hold it up to things

I've been in our local AG store about five times, I love how everything is out there for you to handle! I guess they do that because practically none of it is fragile. A lot of their props are more "toy" looking than I like for my DDs, but some of them are SO tempting! They do seem to fit in that size range right between DD and MDD, don't they? Thanks!!

I took my Arisa to the store in Columbus, Ohio. I called in adavnace to make sure that was okay. The manager almost sounded confused when she replied. "Of course? You're welcome to bring any doll you like." Not only did they not care, but the girl who worked at the repair station was asking me all about her.

FYI, the glasses are way too wide.

an interesting brand-mentality cultural difference!

In Japan, Volks would be very upset if you brought a doll from a different brand into their shop for posing with things

We get the our generation stuff at smyths in up the UK, the big furniture is mainly 1/4 scale (I use it for a minifee) but the accessories (food, plates, brushes) are mainly 1/3 scale. I think cause the dolls are a bit odd proportion wise they just box-scale it to them. But if you have a multi-scale doll collection it works out well lol
