Kumi Posted October 23, 2011 (edited) When I'm seeing my photos and the photos of other DD owners, I see that there's still a long way to go... Apparently there's no other way than to practice. Below some results from yesterday's photo practice session Kaoru agreed to pose, she was very cooperative and didn't complained at all Thank You for watching Edit. Changed image hosting. Poofiemus Posted October 23, 2011 I like how you have her actually messing up her hair, rather than trying to keep it abnormally perfect like some DD photographers tend to do--though, I will admit, it is giving me this mental image of her being in a shampoo commercial. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
baldylox Posted October 23, 2011 You are correct Kumi. The best way to get better at taking photos.... is to take photos! And take LOTS of them too! Even if you think you got the picture you wanted, take another just in case. I find that on most photoshoots I do, I'll take around 100 pics and usually only keep half of those. And of those, I usually only share a small portion of them online due to me being picky. But sometimes you can't always get the look you want and it will become maddening. But don't give up! Always try for better shots. I keep this in mind on every shoot I do and so far its helped me out. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. XOHimitsuOX Posted October 23, 2011 I take lots of shots and try to take them at different angles and shutter speeds. I find posing tricky, however i just do some searching on the net then create a mental image of how i want to pose them. Quite a few of my photos are garbage cos i forgot to adjust the shutter speed, or they are out of focus (I use the AF/AE-L button to focus only, the shutter release button is for taking the photos)
scripple Posted October 23, 2011 I always shoot in front of blank backgrounds with bright even lighting like this too. It works, but I think a lot of the nicer shots I see are done with more interesting surroundings and more dramatic lighting. It lets you draw attention to certain aspects of the girl or emphasize her by slightly blurring the background and things like that. Also the play of light and shadow can do a lot too. It's all beyond me but if you're trying to get really good you might want to give things like that a try. Check out my new DollFun website. Share your own doll photos with free image hosting. Kumi Posted October 24, 2011 Thank You for Your kind comments I choose to make this set in kind of "high-key" mode, and to soften/brighten the photos with bit of glow effect. Of course, these are only a few from a bigger photoshoot. I'm picky, too - other photos had shadows or too much stray hair on her face and the like. These are +/- ok (but I'm still not satisfied. I think it's a good sign )
