Rin Tohsaka and Takane Shijou

New dolls announced for the Christmas Dolpa!

 

Takane isn't a surprise and I had predicted Rin as a very likely candidate due to Unlimited Blade Works this year and also Prisma Ilya.

 

While not confirmed I wonder if they'll release her magical girl outfit? Probably not but who knows!

 

Rin will include a command seal decal it seems! She has the same head sculpt but with new face-up and possibly eyes?

Takane doesn't look quite like Takane to me. I feel like Chihaya has a more accurate face for her.

She is definitely pretty just does not fit Takane like I expected.

OMG, this is so exciting!!! I am a HUGE Fate fan so seeing a new Rin makes me giddy. I love the Takane Shijou as well. She's really pretty!

Takane is based more so on the game version rather than the anime like the rest of the range but I wish they had used the anime for reference. I think she's close enough but I'm not immediately wowed really =/ Maybe need to see more pictures!

 

Also here's pictures of the original Rin for comparison.

 

 

Quite an improvement I think! She has a very traditional doll like face. I wonder if maybe they should've redone the head sculpt to better match the anime like they did with Illya?

I agree. Something about it seems… kinda flat? But I'm sure that could be fixed with a bit of styling

I always told myself that if they EVER released Rin again, I'd go for her. But I'm not 100% sure that this Rin is the Rin I want. She looks good, I know that. But I love the original one and this one isn't the same to me. I'm really torn with this but if I see more photos of her head/face then maybe I can make a decision.

 

I'm about 51/49 for/against her right now, we'll see how that changes with more images.

Oh darn it, I saw the other topic before this one!

 

I'm excite for Rin, she is a must have for me.

 

Takane is really cute, too, though. I'm not in to IM@S but I think she's the kind of character I'd like based on what I see, haha.

UGH I love Takane but it's just not feasible for me to be adding another girl right now with Snow Miku looming in the not-too-distant future

 

I'm hoping that I'll either fall out of love with her as more pictures arise or manage to join a split for her head (I do have a fair bit backed up for just in case doll purposes). If not, I'll probably be sunk having to bump her up to the "grail" status, and I really hate having grails . I like so many of the IM@S dolls, even if I don't follow the series. They just have so many good designs.

 

I like the new Rin. Not enough to get her, but I feel like she's a fair revamp of an old favorite. I'm happy that people now have more of an opportunity to get her!

Dear god volks must love the idea of me being broke! I'd love to get Rin and she looks wonderful here! As for Takane, she looks like Celia's mother so, yeah. A character I like plus a new custom woohoo! Let's hope I have good lottery luck!

I love Takane but trying to cut down... Would only be interested in her head though if anyone else was interested in partials....

I am seriously diggin Takane's lips...

 

also darling Rin is making me seriously break the "1 doll" rule... Need to know more of her specs tho

Perhaps they'll re-release the updated school uniform set for her as well! That'd be a dream coming true (and beating my wallet within an inch of its life)

As an owner of Original Rin twins, my head is saying that the mold is the same... but wow she looks so different! They've kicked the blush up several notches and added some color to her lips, making her look like she has rounded cheeks and a smile. It's definitely a younger-looking version of Rin than I'm used to!

 

The eye make-up has also been altered... original Rin ends in a sharp upward point; new Rin has a bit of a downward angle at the outer edge.

 

In short, I think I prefer the original, and more mature-looking, Rin, but the new one is a delight as well!

 

All the same, I do think Rin is one of the most versatile sculpts that Volks has ever produced and highly recommend her:

Remember, since only the faceup is different, you can always get that changed. Also, let's not forgot how much Volks tends to fail at photographing their own damn products. >.<

 

I actually like Rin's new faceup, she seems livelier to me. Not enough for me to get her (since that would mean putting poor Abby's body on hold, and the poor girl's waiting long enough to get out of that jar), but I definitely like it.

 

Takane does exactly nothing for me at this point. ^^; I am curious what other people do with her, but. . . that's about it.

 

Now, let's get the next Volks News so we can see some outfits!

GAAAAAAAAA my heart just exploded. I'm going for another doll.

 

If they did a re-release of Rin, I actually wanted them to 'redo' her, partly because just recycling the original set would be kind of cheap. I LOVED her sculpt, I still think it's the most... alluring? of all DDs completely ignoring Sasara. But over time the original faceup & eyes & ..., well everything really feels like it belongs to a different era of DDs. I really like the fact that the original Rin and the new one are separate, special on their own.

 

Of course with Volks' photos we'll have no idea how the new one will be until it gets into owners' hands. I'm in though :3

 

 

And yeah, Takane, yay. I would have cared a lot if it weren't for Rin.
