My order status still hasn't changed whatsoever. It's still just the black text it's been from the start. Is that normal? Haven't done a lottery before.

If you didn't get the "u win, pay up" email, and on the site it still says "Lottery" with your order.... nope, you didn't win

welcome to the sulking corner

For those who chose to pickup in store they could get the dolls from yesterday.

Lost for Rin on two entries so the boyfriend bought her on YAJ instead. Shame but she's worth the aftermarket price for sure. Hoping I hear back from the seller soon since they said they would ship straight after payment is confirmed.

Takane's faceup is even prettier up close. The pink liner around her eyes is slaying me! I can't wait to see Rin's close-up, too.

Had a general question regarding the lottery. Say someone doesn't pay-does Volks do a redraw for a next in line? Or is it...a clickwar type situation where they put her up on the site and first come, first serve gets her? I only ask is because I'm sure it's occurred at some point. Maybe it's just the hopeful in me speaking for wanting a Takane. Sigh.

With Mio Honda they did have a redraw, but it sounded like they had a larger than normal number of unclaimed dolls in her case.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

Both of them looks so nice! I have to admit that Rin seems cuter in her owner's box than on the promotional pictures again! I'm a bit sad about not going for Takane though (´д`) I hope that everyone who wasn't able to get her will in the end!

I would be OK with a click war or a redraw if it meant I got one final tiny chance at Rin

So ended up buying Rin on YJA. I still really want Takane, but she will have to wait. Maybe I will get lucky and find a rescue doll in a few months. This has been a disappointing first lottery for me, but I found her at a price I was ok with. I guess this is the Rin I was meant to have, and in a few months I will have the Takane I was meant to have.

For those who want an alternative to Ebay you can go to: http://buyee.jp/

Click on: Auction

Click on the link for English.

The site is English language, but YJA still requires Japanese searches.

Use this text to search for Rin: 遠坂凛

Use this text to search for Takane: 四条貴音

Select: "Price: High to Low" to get the Dollfie at the top.

You can select English language translation on the listing description itself. Don't mistake the DD Rin Ver. 2 for the 1/3 Azone. It's pretty easy to tell them apart as long as you check the listing text. They have very different product images, but I would double check the text to make sure it specifies the DD version.

I tend to prefer descriptive listings that tell you everything included, or which specify it's an unopened item. Multiple photo's are a plus as well. It gives Buyee more to work with when they inspect the package to ensure completeness.

There are proxies other than Buyee, but this is the only one I have experience with. If you have never used them read their FAQs to learn how the service works. If you want to use a credit card pick credit card as an option do not pick Paypal. I haven't used Paypal through Buyee, but on Mandarake when you click "buy" with Paypal as the funding source the funds are immediately taken from your checking account with no option to chose an alternate source.

The same Japanese text works through Mandarake, but I have found their search engine is more finicky. Sometimes English language search works there, and sometimes I have to search for Dollfie Dream and pick through all the listings.

The order process for both sites is in English as long as you chose English as your language. I have bought seven dolls though Buyee and Mandarake with zero issues.

Right now Rin & Takane seem to be ranging from 60000 yen to 120000 yen on YJA with buyout prices around 100000 yen. ($850) That's still high, but they're $1200 on Ebay.

FYI, if you're buying something between ¥250,00 (iirc) to ¥1000,00, Rinkya has a flat rate for their fee. That makes them the cheapest proxy I've seen if you're winning an auction in that range. I haven't actually used them, but I will the next time I get something that expensive. I usually use Noppin, who provides good service, a good interface for doing stuff, and decent fees.

Mandarake's search is a mess due to them having multiple stores and no single method of tagging their items. I've found so many items that don't belong in searches (my favorite: a Predator figure in the Nendoroid section) and generally just have the best luck going through the full doll section because sometimes DDs/BJDs aren't even tagged with the character's name, or anything, really.

Judging from the rest of Mandarake's pricing on most DDs and DD items, I feel like they'd probably end up being on the higher end. They have many items that I know I can get for much cheaper 2nd hand on the western doll market or on YJA. They don't even seem to discount much for stains on DDs or box damage like they would if it were a figure or other item.

Weirdly enough, a lot of their 2nd hand resin BJDs are fairly priced? I guess it's because there's usually no licensed character to go with them.

I would recommend finding a service other than Buyee. I tried to buy my first doll through them in may last year and long story short they fat-fingered everything which made it unable to be delivered to my house and unable to be sent back to them. When this happened it took them months to actually launch a search for the doll because they kept thinking it would go back to them. They should have launched it after a month since the failed delivery at the latest. By the time they did the search the package had already been thrown out or something by whatever post office it sat in and when the search results came back negative they said "Okay, it's lost so we'll pay you back. Our process for this takes several months so please be patient." By this time it was too late to file a paypal claim otherwise I would have and I'm still waiting for that 1000 dollars back.

I'm currently Using Samurai buyer and have yet to experience any problems aside from their search engine sucking. I use buyee only for it's search function and then take the YJA link from that, feed it through samurai buyer and bid on it from there.

I haven't had issues, but conversely I haven't had to use their customer service on a problematic purchase. I'm happy to see other proxy alternatives posted, and I hope people post more options so everyone can get the doll they wanted.

People here are so helpful and supportive of each other that I mainly want to be sure that everyone who lost and is now looking after market has alternatives to the Ebay markup. Especially since a lot of those ebay sellers are probably buying off YJA right after you buy from them. I'd bet they list their price at the highest YJA buyout cost plus their markup, and then they buy the doll at the lowest YJA buyout cost and the difference is all frosting on top of the markup cake.

I find them to be somewhere in between Ebay and YJA. I mostly look for rescue Dolls on Mandarake. My Yui was really badly stained and I got her there for about $200 less than YJA. I bought her specifically because I wanted to give a home to a doll the average collector wouldn't give a second look at because of the stains. It wasn't about the savings. I probably paid $150 plus time and effort to fix her up. I have a thread on the fixup job I did on her in the Care and Repairs section.

NIB Dolls are definitely more expensive there, but still lower than Ebay.

The other thing about them is you will find heads on YJA, but I seldom see them on Mandarake.

Oh gosh, that's awful! Did you pay with a CC? Some cards have buyer protection which could cover you well beyond the paypal limit. If it was direct from bank or paypal balance it wouldn't help, though. You should definitely keep hassling Buyee and let others know to beware of them. They appear to have an official relationship with Yahoo so it wouldn't hurt to poke Y! reps on social media to boot. Really hope you at least get the money back if not the doll

My personal proxy of choice is From Japan, their new website is pretty easy to use and fees for small items are low. Rinkya has a good search engine and similar fees once you get to the price of a full doll. For searching I use Chrome with google translate and that does a good job for finding auction links, I keep a google doc or bookmarks with the kanji of the doll I'm seeking. Lately I find Mandarake prices are pretty high vs what you'll get on Y!J even with fees included, so proxies are usually worth the trouble.

The owner pics of Takane and Rin are super lovely, congrats to those lucky enough to take them home!

Yeah, that sounds about right price-wise. I think more sought after dolls are generally in the 120,000 yen range, which is definitely expensive but it's not $1200 expensive. That's what I love about Mandarake though, you can find some great things that other people wouldn't want for stupid reasons! I'm gonna go find your thread about the process now.

Edit: You did a fantastic job with fixing her!

Like Jadepixel, I was going to suggest FromJapan as another option. I've never used them for auction but they were great for a direct purchase from a webshop that wouldn't take overseas CCs. I've heard their repackaging fees (if you incur them) can be awful but that's generally the only complaint I have ever heard about them. I believe a lot of people in the figure hobby use them for YJA.
