Oh gosh, that's awful! Did you pay with a CC? Some cards have buyer protection which could cover you well beyond the paypal limit. If it was direct from bank or paypal balance it wouldn't help, though. You should definitely keep hassling Buyee and let others know to beware of them. They appear to have an official relationship with Yahoo so it wouldn't hurt to poke Y! reps on social media to boot. Really hope you at least get the money back if not the doll

 

My personal proxy of choice is From Japan, their new website is pretty easy to use and fees for small items are low. Rinkya has a good search engine and similar fees once you get to the price of a full doll. For searching I use Chrome with google translate and that does a good job for finding auction links, I keep a google doc or bookmarks with the kanji of the doll I'm seeking. Lately I find Mandarake prices are pretty high vs what you'll get on Y!J even with fees included, so proxies are usually worth the trouble.

That's exactly what Mandarake does. Paypal for these services is pretty much the equivalent of using your Visa Check Card, but it's more complicated to setup with the re-seller. I have no idea if that is normal for Paypal services in Japan.

Ah, seems that the win rate for International was abysmal this time... On that note, if anyone wants to unload their extra Rin on me, PM me.

Wow, Takane looks really nice. You can take a lot of great model pictures with her default faceup.

Has anyone found any good pictures of Rin yet. I feel like if I'm at least going to hunt for her, I should at least see if she looks good in owners picture. (I know this sounds weird but I feel like Volks pictures aren't that great for determining if a doll looks good or not.)

Not sure where else to put this but if anyone wanted Some of Rin's main fullset, Alice's Collections has a set that looks similar to her fullset outfit... Without the jacket and extras (Along with the Shoes and wig not being included), plus there's probably some differences, but it still looks the main bit.

Well considering that I seriously feel bad for that doll I probably qualify as a deviant, but I think by the same token it disqualifies me as a creep. XD

I'm also aware that I'm rather prudish when it comes to my vinyl kiddos (Dakota and Miss Lottie are 'old' enough to do as they please, but even Dakota is modest compared to some of those pics.) I guess it's really the fine line between art and ...er tasteless art. It really is "Beauty in the eye of the beholder." Everyone has their own varying opinions on the matter.

'Not My Doll, Not My Problem' is a valuable mantra in this hobby and all, but sometimes I can't help but wonder how the doll feels, although that is incredibly silly of me maybe.

If memory serves me the original Fate was an H-Game, but thereafter subsequent entries in the series discarded the adult format. I think that's mentioned on the wikipedia entry for the series. I suppose that could be where that imagery comes from.

 

I don't know if this is true of Fate, but there are cases of anime like Mezzo DSA where the funding came from the adult entertainment industry, and that forced the artist to make an X rated version of the anime so he could finance the release of the PG version he originally envisioned.

 

I've never seen any of the Fate series I just think the characters are beautiful. Rin was actually the first PVC figure from the series I ever got. I have more of Saber today, but Rin is still my favorite. I hope she turns out to be as pretty as Saber Lily when she finally arrives.

I think the part that bothers me the most isn't what an owner chooses to do with their DD, but the side effect it has on the rest of the hobby. Social perceptions always seem to come from the worst view imaginable for some things, and collecting dolls, figures and the like get hit with that pretty hard. Even within my own family I've had to fight a lot to get them to understand that this is just the way my life is and it doesn't make me creepy. And I come from a family where girls having dolls is totally normal. In short, it's just a point of frustration to me of how the world in general isn't more accepting of people being different and having the compulsion to classify and group an entire hobby under one perception. It probably wouldn't bother me if I fit that assumption, but I don't.

 

I agree about the razor... What I wonder is why she felt compelled to shave her face! Is her 6 'oclock shaddow really that bad? Let's just hope Rin doesn't end up with a beard.

Type Moon started as a doujin game circle and like a lot of other doujin games, used porn to sell their plot. Then when it got popular it went "legit" with all ages version of the game and anime adaptations, and got its prequel (Fate/Zero, which I recommend watching!) and so on.

I read somewhere that we have a tendency to organize things in our brain in terms of opposites. I suppose if that is true (and I don't know if what I read is in fact factual) then the opposite of normal is abnormal, and if we classify something is "not normal" then it would seem to follow we would naturally tend to place it in the abnormal category.

 

Now in my case I just classify myself as abnormal. That way everyone else has nowhere to go but up.

 

Then when it got popular it went "legit" with all ages version of the game and anime adaptations, and got its prequel (Fate/Zero, which I recommend watching!) and so on.

 

I'd like to see the anime series, but when I finally set about finding it a few years ago they seemed to all be out of print. I haven't checked to see if there have been any subsequent re-releases on Blu-Ray.

Also, I don't know much about Fate besides the animation and character designs look awesome, so learning that it was an H game at first kinda peaks make interest a little bit. XD I'm definitely gonna get to fate Zero . . . eventually.

I recognize this person... Tumblr recommended their blog to me and needless to say I was in shock. Also why put an electric shaver there? Just, why?

 

And yep. First fate VN has H scenes. The first one you run into is so out of the blue, awkward and poorly written that it's hilarious though. If you play that game for the "plot" you're playing it for the wrong reasons.

 

I think people can do what they like with the things they paid for, but I agree that it makes everyone else look bad when it's this extreme. People make inferences and assumptions on what they're unfamiliar with and often it's the negative extremes that you'll hear about without seeking out the information yourself. Because of this people tend to associate some huge group of people with whatever anecdotal tall tale about a person who did something weird and crazy they happened to hear. They will likely tell others of it as well because even if it's bad, it's more interesting than hearing about your average person being well adjusted and normal.

I had the crazierst thing happen to me yesterday: Out of the blue my boyfriend told me that we von Takane in the lottery for me!

I remembered how I mentioned to him how pretty she was but I'm in no financial situation to enter for her and so on. He just created an account, entered himself and won..

I didn't believe him at first, but he logged in and showed me the order. I've entered a few lotteries since 2013 and never won anything and he just got her on his first try >3<

I'll be paying him back as soon as I can afford it and now I'm just excited for Takane coming home next month
