All the Idolmaster Girls (not Cinderella) have had custom bodies which are different from the standard bodies Volks released so they look proper in their default outfits. For example, if you can compare the standard SS bust unibody with Chihaya's, the standard one has a very strong hourglass figure.

 

Edit, also I thought Alisa's bust had a unique shape for her underboobs, but I don't really know. FWIW mitsuki posted some pics of Alisa's body but it's hard to compare them with Volks' front shot of the standard body.

Hmmm? I dunno. I've seen just a standard one-piece torso and one from a Idolmaster (Haruka's I think) and they looked the exactly same to me? ^^; (Both DDS M bust) I think Volks literally casted the exact same bodies for their standards.... Are you sure it isn't just their outfits aiding to creating that shape (because they do that)? It seems like giving too much credit to Volks. Also, that body in general has more shape imo than the two-piece option because it is one piece. Has a natural waist/bust-line.

 

Alisa's body is exactly the same as the standard. I've seen that thing so many times it is pretty hard to mistaken there being anything special about it. XD

When you say standard do you mean the standard DDS one-piece or do you mean DIII? If it's DDS I want to compare my Makoto to the S one-piece I bought from the Volks store for my Uzuki.

I'm pretty sure the Idolmaster girls just have the regular one-piece torsos that are now for sale; they're not "unique" torsos. Volks makes a note if there's something unique or special about a body part, and there are no such notes on those girls' pages. They've been especially good about making those notes with recent releases.

 

For example, Alisa is described as "L Bust (Flat Version) / One-Piece Torso" and it's a perfect match to the "DD-BW-LF / L Bust (Flat Version) / Normal" sold in the store. There's nothing unique about her torso.

 

I think only Yoko has a truly unique body? And then some girls have had unique hands (like Kos-mos's extra hands).

The first photo is from a Japanese blog that doesn't seem to be up anymore. I think Melty also has a unique M-bust for her bodice, but I can't really tell unless I strip her >_>

That's comparing Chihaya's SS versus Volks S (top photo). They're different bust sizes entirely, so of course they don't match! This photo probably came out when Chihaya was first released, as she was the first doll to have the SS bust on a single-torso body -- at that point we didn't have anything to compare her with.

(This is the same as the bottom photo in your link, and they do match... Not sure what you're seeing to make you think this isn't Chihaya's body? If you look at the photo of the 4 girls lined up, you can see she does have a tight waist and wider hips.)

I have a Melty and can confirm her one-piece torso is NOT unique. It is the same as the standard one-piece M torso.

The thinnest part of the waist is much thinner than I've seen in any of Chihaya's photos. Someone with Chihaya would be able to say if it's really the same or not.

With the one-piece torsos, the waist size can vary a lot depending on the exact pose because it stretches. If I lean Alisa forward, her waist gets VERY tiny. If I lean her back, it gets MUCH wider. The difference between "forward" and "back" looks like two entirely separate bodies, actually, but it's just the vinyl stretching. It may just be how Volks has posed the torsos for these photos that makes the waist seem so small.

Yeah, I suspect as much, I can't help but hope it'll be before then, just because Merry Christmas to me if I win, but still. Maybe they'll all be too busy between Christmas and New Year's and we'll get the results before Christmas.

Uhhh VolksUSA just announced a temporary closure for the web store on their Facebook page. Maybe to prepare for the influx of people coming in to pay for Rin? I'm having a ridiculously hard time playing videos tonight so I couldn't watch the video, so if anyone could confirm if the reason for the closure is that or something else that would be fantastic.

Nope. Apparently the closure starts Dec 28 and is slated to be "for several months" due to server and host upgrades. @_@ (They've GOT to be fixing some code back there too, I can only think; just a server migration should NOT take months.)

So if the website is down for several months after the end of December, how are they going to handle notifying people who won Rin and her uniform? How will they take payments? WHY DO THEY HATE US ALL SO MUCH????

Paypal maybe? Alternately a payment-only portal of some kind. They're not going to flat-out keep people from giving them money on this front.

On the bright side volks going to AX 2016 means I've gotta save up. If volks has the same selection they did last year I'm gonna want to have a field day!

I discounted this thought, because I figured they'd want to have the Christmas weekend off, but here's some speculation.

 

December 25th is a Thursday. Lottery payment periods typically begin on a Friday. The lottery said that payment would be required end of December, while the delivery period would be late March.

 

December 26th, Friday = Lottery Results

December 27th, Saturday and December 28th, Sunday = Payment period.

From my position of absolutely no information I'm guessing the following:

 

None of their webstore is in house. They don't control servers or store software or anything. A vendor handles that.

 

They might not own the implementation of the store software.

 

The past year has shown the server provider is completely inadequate to their bandwidth needs during peak times. And I bet that the problem over the last event a while back resulting in a complete weekend outage was because the vendor said they wouldn't provide support over the weekend. That probably ruffled some feathers.

 

If they don't own the store software, they need to work with a new vendor to create a new store for whatever new vendor they go with.

 

I think it's possible their contract was up with the existing vendor and they might have decided not to renew it.

 

They may have not chosen new vendors or contractors to do the new work yet.

 

All of these are absolutely unfounded guesses, but some of what I'm seeing does match things I've seen out in the world.
