Kaito's Ugly Xmas Sweater (DDH 07 Boy)

'Tis the season to bust out the ugly Chirstmas/Holiday sweaters!

 

As I was digging through some old winter accessories of mine, I came across a scarf I wore maybe once or twice back in high school...so then it hit me that it would make a hilarious ugly sweater vest!

 

Kaito isn't very pleased with me, but he's quite good at playing along with my shenanigans.

 

You're going to plaster this all over the internet, aren't you?

 

You think this is embarrassing? Unfortunately I wasn't able to pull it off to the full extent...My original plan involved covering it in tiny ornaments or glittery snowflake stickers. Sadly, the craft store did not have any. ;_;

 

I think my inspiration for this was actually a tree skirt?? (Hence the rows of cheesy looking fluff. Which is actually polyfill I use for plush.) The bell also just seemed "Chirstmas-y" to me. Since I lacked tiny ornaments. I threw this together yesterday night, so I'm not quite sure at this point.

 

Well, Kaito is not bothered by the ridiculous get-up for long. In no time at all, he's back to his usual spacing out.

 

What kind of home did I end up in, exactly...?

 

 

Maybe Kaito doesn't have to be alone in his sweater related suffering. I welcome any and all pictures of your girls or boys in ugly holiday sweaters of all kinds in this thread! I actually want to see some more.

I'm glad to see this Kaito in more poses, it really brings out his personality. Looks like you've been having a lot of fun with him!

Edit: Also, the photos are much clearer this time so it's a lot easier to see the details in him. I'm glad about that! The photos look really nice.

My girls all got some fairly warm clothes to wear.

 

 

Aria is in a sweater, but I think it's a very nice one. Celia's sweater type thing is a little short and has a keyhole top so she took that jacket to wear on top, and Miku really likes being warm and snuggly apparently! She's been wearing that kigu for a few days now along with lavender fuzzy socks. Plus she's been relaxing in my new purse or coviering herself with my scarves. I wonder how she never seems overheated.

Thank you! c: I've grown pretty attached in the short time I've had him. He's been spending a lot of time with me the past couple days. And of course yesterday especially since I was making this for him. The posing has been really fun! I definitely need to get him some more hands though. These ones aren't too good for anything. I wonder if hands are a strange Christmas gift to give?

 

I'm glad the pictures look better! My shattered Moto X takes pretty nice pictures...but only when it wants to(AKA the lighting needs to be pretty bright. Which is part of why I only use that same area for photos. The natural lighting is good there.) It's a very finicky camera, but it mostly cooperated today. I'm really glad it did. I'll have to start taking more pictures of Kaito soon.

Aria's hair color is absolutely gorgeous! Is it alright to maybe ask where you got her wig? I can't seem to find a color like that anywhere. Same for the deep and lovely blue on Celia. I love her sweater too. It's adorable! I really need to get a girl soon so I can join in with all these lovely clothes. Everyone here has such pretty and beautiful girls. Kaito is fun, but I have a hard time not dressing him too femininely with the kind of options I have in his size...Part of me wants to buy him all sorts of cutesy pastel kind of clothes(looking at you, Etsy!), but I don't he'd like it very much. He'd probably put up with it though.

The seller had a whole bunch of other colors and styles and I got an adorable flower crown from them with my order.

Very true! For some reason, I take "lighter hair" Kaito more seriously(Like Diamond Dust and General.) I picture the usual darker blue haired Kaito to be absolutely shameless, hence outfits like Neko Cyber. Maybe I should swap his eyes and his wig tonight and see if I take him as more of a goofball that way.

 

Edit: So I did swap his wig and eyes, and yup. I now can picture him as a lovable dork. I'll probably post what he looks like tomorrow. I think I'll leave him this way to encourage me to stop being lazy about remaking his wig.

So he'll be rocking this look for at least the month of December. I have to remake his other wig and then I'll have his outfit to be working on.

SMD isn't even out yet and I also don't want them all to have the same sculpt. One of my OC's comes first. Plus if I get Rin she'll be going nuts trying to find out where Archer is. @.@

 

Also never trust the dollies with your credit card! Miku especially can't be trusted. She got 6 pairs of handcuffs last time I let her add something into the order and has been cuffing people to each other like crazy since.

I hope the time flies for you so you can get yours too! The waiting is always the hardest part. This past year waiting to get started on mine was rough. Totally worth it in the end though.

So I ended up making Kaito a different thing to wear for winter. I couldn't resist it.

 

 

I love the look of winter capes! They're a weakness of mine. The hood came out a bit too large, so i didn't put it on him. I'd say it's more for show than use.

 

I'm really glad I was able to downsize this so easily. The cape originally belonged to one of my Cinnamoroll plush. But of course, it was pretty large!

Kaito's gone and made friends with one of my Christmas ornaments...

Thanks!! It definitely does add to his cuddle factor a lot. I suppose that makes sense since the material was intended for cuddling? Let's just say I find myself holding him on my lap twice as often since putting it on him!

Thank you! I'm glad it came out looking nice. It helps that I'm very familiar with this material since I typically work with plush. You give me cotton, flannel, or satin, and I am lost. You hand me minky or fleece and I am there! Kaito seems to like this better since I took it seriously. No intention to humiliate him publicly this time!

February 9th, 2016. Mark your calendar. If all goes well, that's when I'll have mine. Granted, how soon he gets to be Kaito depends entirely on whether Danny plans to make the blue wig in time for his release or whether I have to wait for it. He did say he wants to make blue 'asap' but I really hope he does make it in time for his release (or at least by feb 9th) because I'm real gungho on having a Kaito (as opposed to just an Eiji) in time for his 10th anniversary, ie feb 14-19.

Either way once I have him I'll probably make a photo thread specifically for him in the smart doll board and try not to spam it -every- day.

I'll be looking forward to it! I hope Danny gets the blue wig out in time too. I'm curious to see how it'll come out. I think it's great that he said he'd make one. If it comes out nice enough, I may have to get one myself too. I like the one I made and all, but it was the first wig I ever made, so it definitely has its flaws. Just like my Diamond Dust one, it's a trainwreck in the back.

 

Trying not to spam pictures everyday will be hard! I would know. I've grown to really adore my Kaito, so I want to find reasons to post him all the time. I'll be on the lookout for your thread when the time comes. I'm just excited to see how he'll look! I see a lot of potential in Eiji to be a lot of different characters.
