Poof's 2015 Retrospective - April P.2

For the next few days, I figure I can post some of the photos from last year I. . .well. . . never got around to posting.

 

The dolly highlight of January was a photoshoot at a local nature preserve, oddly named "Dreamy Draw". Went with Somonul and my IRL friend, who shall go by Wandering Hermit. Extra credit to Hermit for providing the skull props and the reflector!

 

 

 

 

Miku: "Look, a thing!"

 

 

Agatha: "Quiet, I have a specimen."

 

 

 

Miku: "Dayum, what a view!"

 

 

Agatha: "Yes, some excellent examples of local desert geology and flora."

 

 

 

 

 

 

Miku: "You're a NEEEERRRRD."

Agatha: "Say what now? You're interrupting my scientific musings."

Miku: "NEEEEEEEEEERD!"

Agatha: *sigh*

February's main photo event was taking Nanoha out for some photos for the hell of it. Somonul came with us for this one, too. (Gotta love having nearby doll buddies!)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I really like the outfits your girls have on in the first set of photos! Both girls look perfect in them! I'm betting Agatha likes hers most tho since that's VERY her. Those little accessories are awesome too, especially the little oil lamp and telescope.... where did you find those?

 

Nanoha looks great too but one thing bugs me about her outfit setup.... how does she not get clobbered in the face by that HUGE stuffed heart every time she moves her head around?

Ha, thanks! The oil lamp I think came from a second-hand store, and the telescope came from a local doll show--however, it was originally a keychain, and I've also seen it sold as a necklace on Etsy.

 

Hahaha! XD Fair point! Well, sometimes you put up with crazy things for the sake of one photoshoot, am I right?

 

. . . apparently I never edited the photos from March, and they need it as they're all kinds of weird color casts. Hopefully I can get those up sometime this week though.

I like this first pictures because your girls are cute and I like steampunk *-*

Thanks so much, guys! I intend to post shots highlighting all of 2015 eventually. Gonna take a while though, because I took a lot, and some batches I never got to culling and editing. XD

 

March. . .was without a doubt the weakest serious shoot of 2015. ^^; Learned a lot though.

 

This was originally going to be a photo story, but I'm honestly not sure the constituent photos are worth posting.

. . .strangely, while I have at least vague recollections of setting up and/or taking the other photos, I have NO memory of setting up this shot.

 

I blame Miku.

So fun seeing the variety of wigs on Miku. She looks great in black hair. I can entirely understand her setting up her own photos. Mine frequently has the tendency to show up in poses or even places that completely confuse me as to how or when she ended up like that. Mikus really do seem to have a biy of a mischievous streak.

All the different wigs on Miku really brings out what a versatile sculpt she has. These shots are great! I also like how you mixed and matched parts of her default set. I never would have thought of doing that.

 

And Ravendruid, you're absolutely right about Mikus. Mine is a total troublemaker. She's always up to something that will give me a heart attack, or cost me some money. I have a friend who often gets to hear about her latest antics and he's nicknamed her Satan because of it.

Thanks guys! These were just the cream of the crop from that shoot--I actually took around 300, but these were the only ones I considered worth posting. ^^; Still, I'd only had my DSLR for like, 4 months at that point, and was still learning it.

 

I do agree, she's a remarkably versatile sculpt--but it doesn't seem to matter what wig she's in, she's always got at least some sass and mischief in there. Not like Nanoha, who changes *completely* when you stick her in a blond wig, and goes from being a responsible adult to being a complete airhead.

 

OMG Mimiyo, "Satan"? I'm dying here! Granted, I sometimes think of mine as "Trollface", but considering she's kind of a sociopath, "Moriarty" or "Mikuriarty" might be better. . .

She looks good in whatever she wears but she'll always be her. I'm still kinda learning the ropes here and there with my phone camera. It's not a DSLR but it's pretty great and definitely convenient.

 

My Miku has done some pretty weird things to earn that title though. She's taken countless falls off of various places, including just sliding off while sitting somewhere for no apparent reason. Seriously. No one was touching her and she was firmly seated every time. On one of those occasions her hand caught in Aria's dress and pulled her down too. Another time when she was also sitting, she rolled onto her stomach and fell off that way. Once again no one touched her. She also loses props and occasionally clothing. (Thankfully I've found everything that has come off of her so far, including a skirt one time when she was out with me. That one was embarrassing.) One thing in particular is I like to let her hold my phone because it looks like she's playing with a huge tablet and it's adorable. She will hold it for a while and then just drop it. I've done this with my other dolls using the same type of hands in the same poses and they never drop it. She has the strongest arms overall of all my dolls as well so that's not why it happens. Either she really does have a mind of her own or there's a ghost that follows me and loves to play with her.

So, on to April!

 

Small batch here. Most of this shoot was kinda 'eh' because I totally broke the 10-to-2 rule. Took these shots at Willow Lake, which is right down the road from my mom and stepdad's house. It's a neat landscape, so I'l have to do another shoot there and see if I can't get it to turn out better than this one did.
