MDD measurement question

I've been looking around trying to figure out exactly how tall a MDD is. The thing is, when the measurements are given I'm never sure if it's the height of the full doll or the height of the body.

The most common height I can find is 43.5cm, but is this including the head? I assume it isnt just because theres no default DD head size, so am I correct to assume the measurement is for the body only? Or is the total height of the MDD standard model character?

hmm, it does a little, but the lack of a neck height is throwing me off. This makes it seem like the height given is the height of the body and doesn't include the head, but it's still a bit hard to tell.

 

Baldylox, I know that your partner has some resin BJDs. Do you think it's possible to get a photo with one of your mini girls alongside a few different MSD sized BJDs (if she has any of that height) for comparison, with the sculpt names if possible? (Especially if she has some boys!) I actually started this thread as a way of comparing the MDD measurements with other resin MSDs anyway. (most of them list clearer measurements on the websites and specify that the height includes the head)

The height of a MDD with a head is on average 43.5 cm (~17 inches) according to Volks. The body without a head is around 37 cm (14.5 inches) not counting the neck peg and depending on how much of the soft vinyl neck you count since some of it will go into the head.

 

It is true though that different heads will change the final height. Volks is just saying that MDDs end up on average 43.5 cm tall.

If baldylox is able to post some resin comparisons though I'd still really like to see them.

I know Salica has some great photos in her stories but there aren't direct height comparisons. She definitely has MSD sized boys and girls as well as MDDs. Her stories are beautiful. She has such elaborate sets.

Sorry but she doesn't have any resins that are a similar size to the MDD, all she has is a huge Onyx and a Yo sized girl. But I just measured my Kino ( an MDD3 body with an 01 head ) with a tape measure and she was 44cm exactly from head to toe standing flat footed in socks, no shoes and with a wig. This is Kino in case you wanted to see her:

I measured Cirno, and she is similar to the height Baldylox found with Kino. That's such a cute photo!

I went ahead and measured my other girls that are on MDD bodies and they are all within 1-2 centimeters in height so depending on what head they have, you can expect an MDD to be between 43-45 cm on average.

I'm in the middle of planning a BJD hybrid and have been looking up the measurements for the different bodies. If he gets a body with the same measurements as a MDD, he'll have a much cuter warddrobe and wont be too weirdly out of scale with a MDD if I ever manage to get one.

 

Also I feel lucky for getting a pic of Kino as an exampe, she's my favourite of your mini girls baldylox.
