Monty Posted January 16, 2016 I think that since a lot of people are going to want to know this, it'll be better to make a new thread for it rather than things becoming lost in Eiji's discussion thread. I hope this is ok. Basically, if you get Eiji and try some third party clothes on him, post about how well or not well it fits (as well as what kind of doll the clothes was made for.) Of course, we are very lucky to have some talented tailors like Sister_Kyoya making clothes especially for Eiji, but for those of us who plan to spoil our Eiji's rotten with as much clothing as possible, I thought a thread like this could be a good resource, since Eiji's measurements are both similar and different to other male dolls. In Japan, at least two people on twitter already got their Eijis and have been trying clothes on him. The stuff posted by nayuta_7 is very helpful so far. Thank you nayuta_7! Apologies for rough translations. "I put him in the Azone 50cm pajamas [but] the legs are VERY short." (I'm glad! I wanted to get those pjs for him even knowing the legs would be short. I think they're really cute.) 'This is SD16 from a dealer. The sleeves are a little long but everything else is good. Pants leg is just right. The waist is a little loose, its fine if you tuck in the shirt.' 'This is an SD-13 size cardigan and SD-13 boots. I wonder if SD-13 works too if you can get them over his chest and thighs...' I guess it might take a bit of wiggling to get SD-13 on him, although thats what you need to do to get Mirai's jeans on anyway. Might have to wait for more 'evidence' on this, but the cardigan and shoes look fine. You can see some more of their Eiji pics here,I think the police uniform with the white shirt and tie is whats under the black jacket in the other picture. *twitter*instagram*art*
Monty Posted March 5, 2016 (edited) REVIVING now that I have my own Eiji. So it turns out that, in my humble opinion, SD16 is just kinda too big. I mean, depending on your tastes it can look ok, and I do really like the sd16 clothes I got for him under the impression that it was the best size, but SD13 is far and away the better fit. It might depend on the item, so I'm going to show some of the things I have with my Kaito. Here he in his default jeans with an sd16 turtleneck. It's not too bad, although the sleeve length kind of puzzles me considering how baggy it is. What bugs me a little is the shoulder seams make his shoulders look bigger than they are. Eiji already has pretty broad shoulders, and his head already is a little on the small size, so clothes like this just kind of emphasise that effect a bit too much for me. I can't remember the brand of this turtleneck but I got it from DollK and i'm pretty sure its an import from one of the chinese/korean bjd companies. I can certainly tell that the turtleneck part is intended for a wider neck than the skinny anime ones. Next is some Volks clothes reccomended for SD16 and up. The first one is the 'Fantastic Sirius' set which I'd been really wanting because I think it's just perfect as an outfit for Kaito. The problem is the fit is not that great. I still like it a lot so I want to try making some adjustments if I can. I rolled the pants up a lot (they're reeeeally long) but the jacket sits a bit weird still. I'm going to have to try this on him again, to be honest, because I did first try it on when I wasn't really used to posing him yet (he is my first 1/3 vinyl doll after all) so it's possible the awkward look is because of that. It makes him look kind of big-chested standing up but like I said that could be my fault. It is made for a much larger doll with a much larger head, though. These not-standing photos look a little better I think. (Regardless of what I do with this outfit, the 'sash' it came with makes an excellent Kaito scarf so he's been wearing it with most other things) The other Volks outfit I got was a school uniform set, 'Perfect School Council President'. I like this one a lot, although it's still baggy. I think the cardigan has the same problem of emphasising his shoulders a bit much, but i think the bagginess of the cardigan at least is really cute. Note this set also came with a blazer but I havent actually tried it on yet. I was worried that many layers of bagginess would look silly on him, but I'll test it eventually. I'll have to get more photos of this with the pants, because you cant really see them in the pictures i have. The blue shirt underneath is a bit big on him, but it doesn't look too bad on its own. The collar/neck area is a little gappy though. Now for the SD13 stuff (combined with his default jeans) Here's a simple top, with a cardigan, and a hoodie In this pic he has the SD13 top, the SD16 cardigan and his default jeans. And now on to something that surprised me! In the first post I noted that those Azone50 pjs did fit...but I was actually surprised at how well they fit. I was expecting them to be much tighter, and the legs to be much shorter, but.... ...I think they're passable as his own pjs. Now, they're made for Azone50 girls and are intended to look superduper baggy. It's apparently supposed to look like they're wearing their boyfriends pjs. The bagginess is really cute, but it's also just enough to be a perfect fit for him. And the pants are still kinda baggy! They are shorter than intended, but nowhere near as short as I expected. And if you combine them with jeans or other casual pants, they look like a regular shirt. ...but as PJs I think they're adorable. I encourage other Eiji owners to contribute to this thread if they can! I'll try to post more pictures of the two volks outfits now that I'm better at posing him less awkardly. (my photos still arent great, unfortunately) Edited March 6, 2016 by Guest 1 *twitter*instagram*art*
SaraInJapan Posted March 5, 2016 Oh, I thought all boy SD clothes would fit him... The proportions are different though, it makes sense some things won't fit. It kinda sucks tho, buying something you expect to look awesome on him and then it doesnt...
Winnie Posted March 5, 2016 I'm dying, your boy is SO handsome ! I love the picture with the cardigan !
Yami Usagi Posted March 5, 2016 Thank you thank you for this information! I'm glad to see that there are a lot of cute cardigans and button down options because I didn't want my boy to look super punk or intense. Pants are something I'll be especially interested in since I plan to get the Eiji essential version which means no perfect Smart Doll jeans >_<.
Monty Posted March 6, 2016 SD13 pants may be the next thing i test on him. Both SD16 outfits I got have pants that are definitely too long and a little baggy. Unfortunately I dont really have the funds to at the moment...the reason I didn't end up buying him any SD13 pants was because his default jeans are so great I did really, really want to get that new sd13 suit from the volks february collection, but it was sold out when I went to go get it. ...and then it came back in stock after I had no money left. I hope i can see more examples of SD13 pants on him from others, though. I wanna see shoes, too! I'm not really sure what his shoe size is compared to other dolls of his size - all I know is that a lot of 1/3 male dolls have really giant shoes that sometimes look too big for them, like clown shoes almost, which is an effect I dont really want. Many people who got Eiji have the advantage of having other male dolls - so they can try their existing SD clothes on him, and if they get him anything new that doesnt fit they can pass it on to one of the others. Since he's the only 1/3 doll I own, it's a bit more of a gamble for me. *twitter*instagram*art*
