I saw these on twitter but they look so gorgeous.

The hair colour actually works surprisingly well! And I love the sparkly background.

Did you have much trouble with the hair clip? I was annoyed how badly it stays in the hair and then the star snapped off :c i'll have to superglue it back.

Those photos are stunning.

 

I really like the posing, and all of your photos have a sort of vividness of color that is strikingly beautiful. The background coordinates perfectly with the constellations on the dress--it recalls the Milky Way.

Volks should seriously hire you to take official pictures of their outfits. I wasn't a fan of the twinkle snow set until I saw your pictures. Amazing!

That wig does go surprisingly well with that outfit, but I'd love to see it with a blonde twin tail too. And amazing photos too. I wish I had the space for a doll studio and some decent lighting. I'm so glad I ordered this outfit.

Thank you! Hmm, well, the hairclip isn't as snug as the ones that came with Rin, but I did take Yuuri to a meetup in this outfit and didn't manage to lose the clip, so... I guess the huge amount of wig wax I put on her bangs helped the clip to stay in place a bit better? :'D I've been wondering if I could put hot glue or something to create a bit of tooth. I'm really sorry to hear that yours broke, I hope you managed to fix it!

Thank you very much! I really love this fabric, I'm so glad I bought it a couple of years back. It makes the perfect backdrop when I need something resembling a starry night sky, hehe~

Ahah, I'm flattered, but I'm not sure Volks would hire someone who isn't a professional photographer. xD But thank you for the compliment! I guess the biggest difference between my and Volks' stock photos is that they use studio lighting while I use natural light... I don't have any fancy studio equipment, although sometimes I think having a reflector would help.

I'd love to see how it goes with a blonde twintail wig, too - as soon as I find one that matches my standards (and price range). :'3 I'm quite picky about wigs... It's a super cute outfit, isn't it. ^^

I ordered wigs from Pengin Workshop for my twins and got them yesterday. They needed quite a bit of trimming & styling to look presentable, which has me a bit bummed. I'd like getting a wig that I can brush, maybe add a bit of wax and plop it on my doll's head. :'D But it could be that I'm too fussy, ahah... I'll eventually make a review about them & post it into my blog with before & after photos. Here's what they look like with the final styling:

I'm so thankful for Rin's hairpins, for real. They save awful bangs a lot of times.

 

This is probably the third time I'm trying to find the perfect wigs for Yuuya & Yuuri, but I'm not sure... I do like the haircuts (ponytails are so cute) but these are rather high maintenance. *sigh* I can make the wigs look nice in photos when I photograph them from the right angles, but IRL they're less impressive, unfortunately. I guess my search for the perfect wigs continues. ~__~;;

It was Sheryl Nome's birthday on the 23rd, but by the time I got back home, built a setup and dressed Suiren in her Sheryl gear, it was already so dark that I didn't get proper photos. I don't like working with artificial light (then again, I might feel differently if I could afford to get proper studio lights). But today there was a bit of daylight, so I managed to snap some photos~

 

 

 

Suiren is on the DDdy body (although she's got the DDIII L flat bust) so I had to resize the skirt a bit bigger for it to fit her. Luckily the pantyhose/stockings stretch so those I didn't need to alter. She can't wear the leather panties that came with this outfit, though, lol. xD

and it isn't helping me as I am wanting a Sheryl more and more T__T

If you don't mind me asking, what is your lighting setup/ do you use something to diffuse the light? It really looks beautiful.

Ah no, I don't mind at all! I don't have any special set ups, as I tend to photograph mostly with natural light... unfortunately I've never learned to manipulate artificial light to my advantage. >__<;; My current apartment has big windows, which helps a lot. :3 During winter months light is pretty scarce so sometimes I wish I had reflectors to help me. Maybe one of these days I'll seriously have to invest in a couple of portable reflectors as they can be very handy.

Thank you, and for the compliments about the wigs too! :3 Sometimes it can take a lot of work for me to be happy with the styling of the wig and it's always reassuring to hear if they look nice to others, too. xD

I guess I'll start by posting this photo of Suiren (Sheryl) that I took last year's summer at the lake when I visited @Yenna (she has posted her set of photos here). I never got around to editing more than a couple of them so I didn't get a proper photoshoot up, but yeah... I've also got a (non-lake) photoshoot that I took of the twins during the same trip but I still haven't edited those. ^^; Let's see if I ever do, or if I'll just take a new set of photos this summer, ahem...

Then a newer photo of Yuuri (Kagamine Rin) from last week when I made a trip to the capital to see the cherry blossoms. I forgot to pack a stand so my photoshoot got cut short by the strong wind that kept knocking poor Yuuri down... perhaps the next time I'll be better prepared. ^^;

I wanted to take more photos, but it started raining and I lost my inspiration when my pants got wet from rolling in the grass. :'D The local apple trees are at their best right now but the weather is so rainy... we'll see if I manage to take any more photos before all the blossoms are gone. >__<;

Resurrecting the thread again for some spam of the new girl:





I've been looking for Luka for a while now, so I'm happy to finally have her at home! ♥️ I repainted her and upgraded her onto a DDdy body with the DDIII L flat bust, because she was way too top heavy on the DD body. I did the same for my Sheryl Nome, so it was mandatory to upgrade Luka as well. Luckily the outfit didn't need any altering to accommodate her bigger butt, haha~ DD body with the L bust vs DDdy body with the L bust, for reference.

Box opening documented in my blog. :3 Before I repainted Luka completely, I also tried altering her default face up ('cause the mouth is the biggest issue with it, for me) and you can see photos of that in my blog if you're curious.

Ooh, your repaint of just her mouth fixed what I've always disliked about her,  though I still think she doesn't look that much what I think Luka is supposed to look like.

On your blog you mentioned about the lines on the edges of the mouth and that maybe Volks can't do that with the masks; they actually did that with Rin v2,

The line is like a dark red/brown and it can be really noticable sometimes, like this day which was perfectly overcast (I used a glow filter on these photos because the natural lighting looked too fake),

Sometimes I just chop off the smirk to suit the mood, but that only works for photos f^_^') Actually if you want a good look at it, look at the original resolution image for this photo.

Excuse the many broken photo links in this thread, I had to give up my domain/blog because the webhosting service I used got way too expensive. 😧 I need to figure out something else soon, my flickr is almost at capacity too. xD

Anyhow, after a long break from the doll hobby, I'm slowly but surely doing more things with my dolls again. I got my MDD Arle like two years ago but only this summer I felt inspired to work on her, although she'll need another repaint soon because I was lost with my technique (haven't painted any dolls since getting my Luka in 2019 lol) and MSC reacted badly 'cause it was too humid when I did the final coat on her.

I did take some photos of her a couple of weeks back when I went out on a photo trip with my friends. Her name is Miharu and she's so smiley and happy. Makes me smile too whenever I look at her. :3 ♥

Wow I love your photos. I live 100M from the beach but I'm not sure if I would let my girls swim in the sea. I really want to take some photos of my new Kizuna but have been practicing with the Pureneemo girls.

As for image storage space... I did have a custom domain but I let it expire and now I'm putting my doll stuff onto blogger. I kind of like the interface and it's a nice break from WordPress.

Aww, thank you! 🥰❤️ Luckily my best friend @Yenna was kind enough to share a bit of her domain space with me, so I'm in the process of rebuilding my blog. :3 Hopefully during my Christmas vacation I'll have some time to properly look into that, real life responsibilities are keeping me quite busy at the moment. >.<

Thank you! My bestie and I take our dolls swimming often, it's a lot of fun (although also a lot of work haha). Well, have to be a bit careful with sand getting in the joints. >.>;; Afterwards it's important to take the dolls apart and let them dry properly before reassembling them, but other than that there aren't issues. At least Finnish lakes usually have very clean water. :3

I was planning on taking some better photos before sharing Miharu's "completed look" with the right kind of wig and eyes, but sadly it's the darkest time of the year and I barely see any daylight during the hours I spend at home. 😓 Luckily we finally got some snow at least, so maybe one of these weekends I'll get to go outside for photos. ❄️ So, in the mean time I'll share this quick snap I took a few weeks back. :3

Tweet is pretty self-explanatory. xD But background info is; I started playing FFXIV a little over three years ago and my older brother who had been playing WoW for, like, over 15 years at that point, was kinda making fun of me for playing FFXIV (rude!). But then about a year and a half later he ditched WoW and started playing FFXIV as well (haha!). Then Volks released Y'shtola as a doll and since my brother was familiar with these dolls 'cause he's seen mine, he decided to buy Shtola just because he could. :'D Aaaand now he has to deal with me wanting to play with her lol.

Y'shtola isn't among my top favourite Scions (I love my children Alphinaud and Alisaie, also a big fan of Urianger and Estinien - basically I'm team elf I guess lol) so luckily I wasn't too bothered that I couldn't order her back then... but now I'm like, she's so pretty! ;-; ❤️ And her default face up is surprisingly nice, usually I'm not too impressed with the default look 'cause Volks rarely gives the dolls actual expressions so they tend to look rather bland. My bro had just come home from a month long trip to Japan so I didn't want to bother him too much about Shtola, but next time I see him I'll try asking if I can dress her and style her wig to take some more photos.... XD I really hate the awful roadkill fur collar on her dress, though, I'm still in disbelief at Volks thinking that it's passable quality for a limited doll's dress. 😱 I'd be very tempted to switch that out for ostrich feathers or something...
