Snow Miku project 2016 + preorder Fluffy coat outfit

Does this happen regularly with Volks? Where the final product is just a disappointment? I mean despite the puff balls the outfit still looks great. I will probably just add the fluff myself.

 

Was the fur trim originally even a fur trim? From the early photos, I thought it looked like a cotton fuzz trim???

They definitely do not match anymore...

 

Naw, the original was definitely the same poofy material as the puff balls.

This weird fur trim thing is just... weird.

My fluffy coat set arrived today and heres my issues with it:

 

Im trying to put it on a dds m bust.

The coat says it can fit ss-s-m bust and while i have got the middle snap closed i am too paranoid to move/pose her as im scared the snap will pop off the jacket is so tight. =___= doesnt help that the puff ball is directly over said snap so i cant really pull the coat forward more :/

All mariko has underneath is a miku body suit so it should have a bit of room to accommodate that!!

 

The ear muff covers.

Im probably one of the very few who hasnt opened snow miku's default set yet so when i saw the ear covers have to go over snow mikus headband i was thinking ok thats fine..... until i saw that the microphone isnt detachable so trying to get the cover over the ear phone and around the microphone is turning out to be a pain in the a$$. Unless im missing something, im just gonna leave it as a half over the back puff :/

 

 

And now i have the set in hand, i still stand by the fact that puff balls on the boots probably would have deteriorated badly which is probably why they left it off....

 

Overall im fairly happy with it. Just have to bust swap to a ss or s for other girls to wear it :/

they have stretch, I got one on correctly.

 

But the side with the microphone doesn't sit as well as you have the headband and the microphone, between those 2 elements there's not enough space to get the earmuff cover over and stay on - Unless I'm doing something wrong XD

you can kind of see in that image ^v^ I don't want to force it on fully/properly as I'm scared I might snap the microphone off, or break the ear pad from the headphone part

Is there a tiny pre-made hole in one of the earmuff covers?

Yeah usually the Miku outfits tend to be ss or s bust only, I have no clue why they even bother adding m bust on it, since it's a high chance it will just tear the outfit. I tore my default Miku outfit slightly because of that.

 

I tried the mikuzukin set on an M bust and I am just scared the hooks on the apron will just burst out >< So I don't even bother.

Really? I have the original green one, the snow Miku, the band conductor one and the Senbonzakura one and ALL of them fit the DD2 M-bust without much trouble. I've had all those outfits on M-bust girls and none of them felt like they would break or tear. Odd yours are like that.... I wonder if they made earlier ones different from later releases or something similar?

Yeah, mine seem to be a very tight fit with the default Miku outfit, the Red riding hood one, and the band conductor one.

 

I haven't seen the Senbon on a M bust yet. Is the senbon made of a looser material?

Hmm, it might be different batches made at different times aren't all exactly the same in sizing or materials.

Yeah, the front is pretty loose.... I had no issues with it at all and it wasn't tight across the chest at all.

After seeing everyone's pictures compared to the original promo pictures I'm glad I opted to not get this one because I would have definitely been upset. The original trim (that's still used for the earmuffs, but nothing else) was so much cuter! The poof balls being that same material was also much nicer. I feel that it looks odd only having 2 puff balls on the front of the coat where 3 puff balls looked much better.

 

This is the first time for me personally that I've seen an item be so vastly different from the promo shots Hopefully this isn't something that becomes common. I don't want to have to second guess any & all pre-order outfits in the future because of this one not turning out right

I should mention that mariko is using the snow miku default gloves, ill test the fluffy coat set gloves for staining on someone else another day :p

^^; The difference was so horrid to me that I send Volks a message telling that this design change was too much for me. I would not have minded if the material did not looks exactly like the one in promo pics but to change the desing by reducing parts? No can do. Even the picture in the package was the same as the promo shots. Felt like I ordered Volks outfit set and got send some cheap third maker outfit in volks wrap... This does make me fear pre-ordering outfits from Volks :/

 

I couldn't find what the original snow Miku set for 2012 looked like. All I could find was the Goodsmile nendoroid pics and in those it looked like the coat had two puff balls and the shoes either had smaller puff balls or other white marks.

The original artwork showcases three puff balls on the top and balls on the stockings. The final Nendoroid only have two balls on the top but did have the balls on the stockings.

So I was having a look around and apparently Volk's second Fluffy Coat Outfit ver.(aka final product not promo)is the correct version.

So I am guessing it is intentional to have the missing poof balls, they might have messed up on the prototype(promo) outfit.

 

Although what still doesn't make sense is the sudden change of material on the coat itself.

It seems to vary, I think Volks wanted to go for the Project Diva ver, since that's where they are base most of their outfits from + it's cheaper than the original promo one they did.

Got my outfit in. I already knew what I was getting so I wasn't too upset, but I still liked the prototype better. My biggest issue with it is how the ear pieces, the coat puffs, and the trim are all different types of white fabric; it looks bad from a design standpoint. So I feel if I change the front puffs, I will have to change ALL of the white fabric to match and yeah, I'm not doing that (plus my husband has stated he would rather I NOT modify any "expensive doll clothing," thanks buddy).

 

Beyond that, the shoes are nice (and thankfully lined) and the blue part of the coat is pretty. The ear pieces are a complete pain to get on and keep on. :/ I don't know if I'll use the mittens, they scream "STAINING" to me.

I'm concerned about the gloves and staining. The white fabrics do not match up at all and it looks tacky. Even with the cheap changes, i still love the outfit. It has been my fave Miku outfit since it was announced for the nendoroids.

Got an email from Volks USA, mine will be here tomorrow! Thankfully Miku will get it before it gets cold (Still in the mid 80's.).

Mine didn't even ship until yesterday
