Lilliandil Posted February 5, 2016 Hello everyone! I'm new to BJD's and found this forum after looking up forums for Smart Doll. I recently got a Mirai Smart Doll as a gift from my parents for my birthday/Christmas (my birthday's in December). She's my very first doll I can't wait to make clothes for her and get accessories and stuff! I really want to try getting different eyes for her - I saw some threads about this in the forums so I'll be sure to ask my questions over there Are there any doll meetups in the SoCal area? Haku Posted February 6, 2016 Welcome to the forums and the hobby. I'm pretty sure SoCal has a few meetups. Have you signed up for any other BJD forums? Most of us here have Dollies, Super Dollfies, Azones, etc., but it's fun to meet someone who has a Smart Doll. It's cool your mom & dad got her for you, they're awesome. Actually, we are having a dollfie meet-up on: Saturday, March 19th at Starbucks located in Downtown Disney Anaheim at 1:00pm. I'll check out Den of Angels - they seem like they have a ton of info but also so many rules - I don't want to accidentally violate any of them (since I saw that talking about Danny's Smart Doll is against the rules). I probably should note I'm a bit on the old side when it comes to age (or at least I feel like it at times lol ) but it still means a lot that my parents were willing to buy me a Smart Doll because it's one of the few times where my parents were willing to support a hobby of mine. A lot of times when it comes to my hobbies, I just go for it regardless. I think they probably feel that as long as I'm not out doing illegal things then it's okay lol >.>;;; I saw that there was a meet up at Anime LA in January but I've been crazy busy so I wasn't able to go But I will definitely try to come to the March meetup! XD I'm not formally trained in sewing at all but I cosplayed a lot personally for about 5-6 years (I've since stopped due to being so busy but maybe one day I will do it again.). I learned a lot about sewing from my friends who also cosplayed (for a loooooot longer than me ) and a couple of them were fashion design students so I learned a lot from them. Sticks-Ara Posted February 16, 2016 I totally understand the crazy, I live it every day too. But it's funny, drugs may be cheaper then the doll hobby.... Lolol Anime LA meetup was fun. Only about 8 of us made it, but we still had fun there. So yeah, if you think you can make it to Downtown Disney next month, that'll be great. nanika Posted February 27, 2016 I'm from the north part of Los Angeles-- the San Fernando Valley. But I work in Anaheim, which is a long commute. I wish I could be at the next Downtown Disney meetup, but I'm going to be out of the country-- taking a trip to Japan! Hopefully there is a meetup at Anime Expo, then I can meet everyone!
