baldylox Posted February 16, 2016 I've always loved this outfit and way back when I bought my 5th girl Mai, I was able to procure one. I'd dreamed of getting a Kanu to go into that dress for ages and luckily I adopted one as my 20th girl. A while later I found another dress on sale for a steal so I snapped it up for one reason only.... to see what it would look like alongside my other one but turned inside out. I know it sounds odd but just wait and you'll see why I even came up with this odd idea. I had Midori and Kiyomi model for me so let's see what they have going on! Now if you're not familiar with this outfit, it normally looks like the one on the right, worn by Kiyomi. Midori, on the left has the same dress on but it's inside out. DSC_6536 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr The bright colors and patterns sewn into the dresses are amazing. DSC_6537 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr As are those LONG side slits showing off the legs. The boots certainly help the sexy look too. DSC_6538 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr I really like the blue piping around the arm holes and the neck. This piping goes around all outer edges. DSC_6539 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Seems Kiyomi likes Midori in this outfit. DSC_6540 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr DSC_6541 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr I know some of you are going "These are 2 different dresses, there's no way those cool blue materials are INSIDE the normal red dress!" Ahh, but you'd be wrong! DSC_6542 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr See how they look now? The red has the floral pattern while the blue has floral AND dragons. DSC_6543 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Here's a close up so you can really see the details. DSC_6544 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr There ARE a few drawbacks to having the dress inside out tho... one of which is the detailing on the front of the dress, around the neck. See the cross piece that Kiyomi has? There's two little floral pieces that act like buttons, these aren't on the inside. Also, that blue piping doesn't extend down and across the chest on the inside. DSC_6545 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Another is this zipper.... it's HUGE! Now if your girl has long hair like Midori, that hides it pretty well. But for short hair, it sticks out like a sore thumb. DSC_6546 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Lastly, you have the little Volks tag, sticking out from under an arm. DSC_6547 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr But still, even with all those shortcomings, the dress looks awesome either way you have your girl wear it. Thanks for looking! Anna-neko Posted February 16, 2016 That is awesome how the pattern has hidden dragons in it!! And u think it's neat how the fabric is reversible? I had a chinese-styled dress once that was all red with proper flowers, but turned inside out was rainbows! Like, think gay-pride parade flags rainbow Anyway, I'm surprised you didnt just outright commission a new dress for your girl, or have someone resew the zipper the other-way out, and may sew on a lil decorative frog-closure on the collar.... baldylox Posted February 16, 2016 That is awesome how the pattern has hidden dragons in it!! I know right? You'd think with this being for Kanu, the dragons would have been on the outside! And u think it's neat how the fabric is reversible? I had a chinese-styled dress once that was all red with proper flowers, but turned inside out was rainbows! Like, think gay-pride parade flags rainbow. Ha ha! That's awesome! I've seen a few reversible fabrics before but I've never seen it on any other Volks sets before. Especially with the fine details that this has. Anyway, I'm surprised you didnt just outright commission a new dress for your girl, or have someone resew the zipper the other-way out, and may sew on a lil decorative frog-closure on the collar.... Well, I'd thought about buying another Kanu set but you know how these things go, regular pricing on them is about $125-$150 all day long. So the thought of buying another one and flipping it inside out, changing up details and redoing the zipper were kinda "out there" for me. It would be an expensive endeavor for sure. But along came this set at a VERY good price and I pounced on it. I *did* have the thought of having my GF rework it but the value might drop on it if I did that so I'm leaving it alone for now. Galvatim Posted February 17, 2016 Nice photos! The only way this could be better is if you had 2 Kanus to model.
Amber Posted February 17, 2016 Is it bad that I like it when it's reversed more? It's so bright and vibrant! When I saw the first picture, I thought that they had made two dresses. I did not know that it was the same one reversed until I read it. When I look at photo threads, I always look at the first few pictures, then I go back and read it. Haha, I was fooled! The zipper is huge, but "exposed zippers" are pretty popular in human fashion these days... So it isn't completely terrible. I love it, I think this is so cool! The red can be for a more demure character, and the blue can be for a more feisty and vibrant girl. It's awesome.
raizel Posted February 22, 2016 The fabric's amazing! I like the red one better though.
archangeli Posted February 22, 2016 You forgot to mention that IT DOESN'T STAIN! I finally broke the seal on mine earlier this month to take a lunar new year photo. Yes - it was still brand new in package from Volks. I bought it in person at the Akihabara showroom a couple of years ago even though at the time I didn't own any DDdy dolls . It was a bit thrilling (I'm such a dolly dork!). Archangeli.net | Twitter: @MsArchangeli | YouTube: Archangeli
Madhatter1068 Posted February 22, 2016 Wow those dresses are so pretty especially when you have a dynamite to fill the chest area lol
baldylox Posted February 28, 2016 Nice photos! The only way this could be better is if you had 2 Kanus to model. Thank you! HA HA! Dude, if I could have twin Kanus, I soooo would! That would be awesome for sure. Is it bad that I like it when it's reversed more? It's so bright and vibrant! Hee hee, nothing wrong at all! I actually prefer the red as well but the blue and silver is also pretty nice. When I saw the first picture, I thought that they had made two dresses. I did not know that it was the same one reversed until I read it. When I look at photo threads, I always look at the first few pictures, then I go back and read it. Haha, I was fooled! Ha ha! I didn't know the inside of this dress was so intricate until I had one in my hands. I'd never paid attention to any other details of it in online pics until AFTER I saw the insides of the first one I got. Then, whenever I saw pics of it online, I couldn't not see it. The zipper is huge, but "exposed zippers" are pretty popular in human fashion these days... So it isn't completely terrible. Really? I had no idea. Not that I follow ANY fashion trends whatsoever. That's interesting tho. I love it, I think this is so cool! The red can be for a more demure character, and the blue can be for a more feisty and vibrant girl. It's awesome. Thanks! I may yet get my GF to make adjustments so that I can have the inside out one permanent. But for now, I'm not going that far with it. But it's good to know I'm not the only one who likes it like that! The fabric's amazing! I like the red one better though. Heh, I think I do too. You forgot to mention that IT DOESN'T STAIN! Ha ha, you're right, I didn't. You are correct tho.... after weeks on Midori, she had absolutely no staining at all. WHAAATTT?? How could you let it sit in there for sooo long? I would have at least tried it on an L-bust girl to see if it looked okay. You are a stronger soul than I. LOL I'm glad you finally broke it out tho, where are the pics you took? I wouldn't mind seeing them. Wow those dresses are so pretty especially when you have a dynamite to fill the chest area lol Oh yeah! Nothing like the DDdy bust to really fill out a dress.
