AntElitist Posted February 28, 2016 Hey guise, are you can see now VOLKS is using Paypal for their payment processing. Would like to ask if you use the pay by credit card options directly in Paypal, are you still going to get handling fee charges as well? Cause I couldn't imagine if I am going to pay for a girl in the future and I am getting charged by Handling fee + horrible exchange rate and forking out money for more unnecessary stuff. jadepixel Posted February 28, 2016 'Handling fee' is only for PayPal payment. If your credit card doesn't have huge fees for foreign transaction, it's almost always better. jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop

I'm sorry I'm too new to this. I always thought that Paypal has their own conversion rate so if a system uses the Paypal payment processor wouldn't Paypal handle the conversion rate instead? jadepixel Posted February 28, 2016 Right, Paypal has a conversion rate that's usually pretty unfavorable, plus Volks adds the Handling Fee. Most USA credit cards also have fees and unfavorable exchange rates for foreign currency transactions, but if you search there are a few that do not. I have a CC used just for travel and foreign currency purchases. With that card and no Handling Fee from Volks it's a lot cheaper than Paypal for Volks. Hope that makes sense! If you're outside the USA it could be a totally different situation, you'll have to investigate what your CC fees and rates would be. jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop
Cauldroness Posted February 28, 2016 For Volks International: Basically, if you pay via PayPal: ~ PayPal's conversion rate applies ~ It does not matter what payment source you use (credit card, bank account, or PayPal balance), it will still use PayPal's conversion rate ~ Volks charges a "handling fee" (essentially, to cover PayPal fees) If you pay DIRECTLY via Credit Card (NOT via PayPal, you put your credit card information directly into Volks's website): ~ Your Credit Card's conversion rate applies ~ Your Credit Card may charge a "foreign transaction fee," depends on the individual card ~ Volks does NOT charge a "handling fee" For Volks USA: If you're in the US, you obviously don't have to worry about conversion fees. If you're outside of the US (Mexico & Canada): If you pay via PayPal: ~ PayPal's conversion rate applies ~ It does not matter what payment source you use (credit card, bank account, or PayPal balance), it will still use PayPal's conversion rate ~ Pretty sure there is no "handling fee" since PayPal's US contract forbids it but I've never paid via PayPal so I'm not 100% certain If you pay DIRECTLY via Credit Card (NOT via PayPal, you put your credit card information directly into Volks's website): ~ Your Credit Card's conversion rate applies ~ Your Credit Card may charge a "foreign transaction fee" ~ Volks does NOT charge a "handling fee" Doll Photos & Doll Jewelry Sales: Follow me on Instagram! waha Posted February 28, 2016 I don't know about other countries, but as an European user of Paypal I can log in and change how currency conversion should be done using all my funding sources. I can pick by using Paypal's conversion, or my credit card conversion rate.
sie Posted February 29, 2016 It seems Volks international is only taking credit card payments via paypal now so the handling fee is unavoidable. At least it was the only option available for the Snow Miku coat. https://www.volks.co.jp/guide_en/payment/3_b/
sklurk Posted February 29, 2016 I put an order in early this month and was able to use my credit card, but this week when someone mentioned this I tried to check out a random item and it would only give me the paypal option. I wonder if their credit card system needs renewal or if they've just decided paypal is the way to go. credit card companies require you to pay to be able to accept their card at your business. They have their own version of paypal fees, it's just that those costs are absorbed by the vendor at the accounting stage. paypal has their own fees which I believe is 3% of a withdrawal on a personal account, not sure what the fees are on a business account. The paypal fees are much more visible because those transactions are immediate, whereas the creditcard system fees are annual.
unknowdata Posted February 29, 2016 I just check the website and it seems that they removed credit card option completely and left us with only expensive Paypal option. btw I never able to pay any of Volks order though VISA/Mastercard credit card since last year (I still need to use paypal for that), while JCB card seems to work fine...(bypassing Paypal completely) Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/unknowdata/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/unknowdata_p/
callasdoll Posted April 6, 2016 Does anyone know how much the fee is when using a credit card via Paypal? Is it based on the purchased amount?
AnimatorAR Posted April 7, 2016 Does anyone know how much the fee is when using a credit card via Paypal? Is it based on the purchased amount? None. PayPal does not charge the buyer a fee. jadepixel Posted April 8, 2016 Does anyone know how much the fee is when using a credit card via Paypal? Is it based on the purchased amount? Since Volks now only allows paypal payments, we are stuck with handling fee. For my last order it was about 4% of the purchase price. I assume the fee will be higher if you buy a full doll, at least that's what I recall the last time I used paypal to purchase from Volks Int. jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop

foo Posted June 21, 2016 The credit card option is there right now. Over in the Snow Miku thread, Minty wrote: The credit card option is temporary. I sent an email to Volks about it and was given the following response: The credit card payment function is a temporary measure.Credit card payment by the end of June will be unavailable. and FWIW I wrote, NICOS was their old credit card processor, maybe the relationship expired or something. Something is up with their credit card processing because putting a strikethrough in their FAQ is just weird.
