Caring for heavily styled wigs

I am paranoid of Saber's default wig getting damaged over time. I'd like to take her out to the park for a photoshoot and possibly to the Japan festival, so obviously in these situations I'd place a different wig on her for outings or I'd pack her wig very carefully for travel.

 

As I haven't found a backup wig for her, are there any suggestions for wig care for a really super stylized wig like Saber's? I've got the Volks water wax and spray, but haven't used them on the wig yet. Would the water wax be helpful in preventing strands of the wig from coming out of the bun or braid? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

yes, the waterwax helps keep strands in check! There will always be some fly-aways, so don't stress

 

as a fellow Saber-wig owner.. I feel your worry. It helps to keep it in alil box instead of just a bag when you take her traveling, with some tissue stuffed inside the wigcap to keep the shape (i always keep the wig separate from doll during travel anyway)

Thank you for the suggestions! I wound up keeping the original cardboard that goes around the wig along with the net for it and bag. I may get a more permanent box to put that all inside of, though.

 

Would you recommend applying a bit of water wax to the wig preemptively to keep the wig fibers tucked in nicely?

Oh wow thanks for posting that. Those wigs look awesome. My Saber Extra's doesn't fit her head properly so now I have a possible replacement.
