Upsizing from a 12" doll pattern ?

Recommended Posts

Marilyn

I was at Joann's yesterday and was looking through the doll patterns for the roughly 12" crowd (12½"/32cm Barbie & Liv size to be exact) and the thought crossed my mind: could a "Barbie" pattern be directly enlarged to fit a Dollfie Dream? They're both large busted ladies with tiny waists and wide hips...

Has anyone here tried it?

I've done it before.

Need to enlarge the pattern to 200% and redraw the seam allowance. Sometimes the sleeves are a bit too short and baggy, but that's an easy fix.

Do you remember what pattern (or what doll the pattern was for) that you tried it with? With the pattern I have, the breast-waist-hip ratio of Barbie/Liv was too far off to translate to a DD just by upscaling, but it might work with something less fitted.

It was a pattern for older Barbies with bodies from the 90's.
