Ankle problem

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

I get a DDS body today and it seems it has some problem with left ankle. It does not go as far into a shin as a right one and it keeps falling out when I slightly pull it. What's more interesting is that it goes out with a "bone". Shouldn't it be glued or something?

Could you guys tell me whether it is normal or should I do something with it?

The glue they use is more like a weak rubber cement than epoxy.

You definitely do not want to permanently glue the frame parts together. Are you sure you are getting the two frame parts seated correctly? I've always found it a bit difficult to get the two halves mated up inside the shin since you have to do it by feel. If you are just getting it wedged in between the vinyl and the other frame part that would explain why it pops out so easily, and fits poorly.

What I have found is if the rod fits the foot tightly and the other shin part loosely then you will pull that rod out whenever you pull the foot off. You are supposed to be able to pull the foot off without pulling the rod out. If it is fitting the foot tightly you might try pulling it out of the foot, and then reversing it.

There are photo's of the frame here: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=44#p243

One thing you could do is pull the other half of the frame out of her shin and see how well they fit together when you can see what you are doing. If it goes in and then falls right out again you have a problem. I'm not sure what a good fix to that would be.

Once it's out of the shin you can inspect it for cracks that might explain the loose fit.

If you can get the rod to fit the other part of the frame tightly while it is out of the shin you should be able to insert that part back into the shin and then put the foot back on.

If memory serves the shin part is easy to pull the frame out of. It's the thigh that you need a hairdryer for.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

Well said, Wolf!

I have to concur. Connecting those blind joints are killer sometimes.

Thanks Wolf!

I removed the shin and checked the skeleton. There were no cracks.

I tried to put the rod into the frame one side and the other, but the result was similar - it didn't go any further. One side fitted a bit tighter than the other, so I chose this side and put everything together. There is still a gap between the shin and the foot, but at least it does not fall out.

All the body seems a bit loose, so maybe it is just according to Volks quality standards and I have nothing to worry about.
