the reason to give up on DD dream

im just so upset that im ready to give up on my DD dream.

i bought a head from YJA and i had a perfect image in mind of my perfect doll

the head came without the wig...

and since that moment i searched all over and just cant find this wig.

i tried many looks, many wigs, many colors... NOTHING!!!!

i need THAT wig.

i managed to contact the seller of this head, she doesnt speak english. somehow she told its a leeke world shes 100% sure.

tried to contact leeke with no luck.

tried search Taobao but i have no idea how to describe this color in chinese.

 

no idea what to do anymore...

does anyone felt this way? did anyone gave up on making his perfect DD because of such thing?

 

 

Have you considered commissioning a wig similar to it?

Are you freaking out over the color or cut of the wig?

Because from here the cut looks basic - blunt bangs

 

 

now as for color... it kinda looks like MistyBrown thats been badly photographed, but maybe not... Either way, Leeke does special custom colors every season, so you may just need to wait for them to come around again

I wouldn't read too much into her calling it red/purple. In my experience you can get some very strange color name translations going from Chinese to English. Especially if the seller used a machine to translate. In terms of color I think Chise's description of carrot/lavender is spot on. That fiber is definitely lavender.

 

She's a beautiful doll, and I can totally see how the wig fits her perfectly even with the lighting issues.

 

In my own experience with building a custom doll it is possible to spend months searching for the perfect eyes or wig to fit the character you have in mind. I've seen folks on Den of Angels spend years building a custom resin doll.

 

Leekeworld makes beautiful wigs, so if they offer those colors in a special event you should be able to find something really special for her. In the marketplace on this forum there are usually "group orders" coinciding with Leekeworld special events.

 

I would say don't give up. It's just this hobby can take a lot of patience, but the reward at the end is worth it.

its like i can say i searched almost everywhere but taobao as i dont know how to find the right words...

my only good result is a color called PinkBrown by leeke. this color is from around 2007.

just want to cry. this head is my grail and its just hidden in the closet

The color is "Peach Carrot" and it's a soft, orangey-red with streaks of pale pink throughout. In certain light (like flash and sunlight), the pink will photograph as a light purple-ish color. In warmer colors (like most indoor lighting), the pink will photograph as a peachy color. I totally love that wig!

It's a 9-10 sized wig, but DDH-07 has a big head, so just use a fabric wig cap and you should be fine.

 

That said, if you really want to be a DD collector, you should steel yourself for LOTS of disappointments. You'll lose lotteries. You'll fall in love with limited outfits that were sold out 5 years ago. You'll spend ages searching for the perfect accessory and never quite find it. If you're "ready to give up your DD dream" every time you hit a frustration point, this hobby might not be the best match for you because there's a potential heartbreak waiting at every turn. I mean, the auction ended what, 3 months ago and you're already ready to give up? There are items I've been seeking for more than FIVE YEARS and I still don't have them! But that doesn't stop me from enjoying my DD hobby.

 

There's a lot to love about the DD hobby and I've never regretted getting involved, but if you're hunting for "instant gratification" and "exactly what I want when I want it," then maybe it's time to hunt elsewhere.

 

Sorry if this sounds mean, I'm just trying to save you a lot of pain in the long run.

Funny thing is when I saw the OP I said to myself I bet Cauldroness will know exactly what wig that is. Great photo's by the way. She's really beautiful right down the posing of the outfit.

 

I just ordered a few wigs from Crobidoll, and while I haven't seen them in person yet they had very fast turn around on the order and good communication. They have custom color events as well. I just grabbed an awesome 8" blue CRWL-117 wig for my Kos-Mos from one of their special events.

 

I've been working on a custom Shion Uzuki to go with my Kos-Mos since Jan 2015. I have the body, head plus custom face-up, and custom made eyes so far. A custom wig will be another four months and the outfits will be another 7 - 9 months. I figure it will be about 2 years total to put her together.

 

Volks was out of stock on feet for a few months, so she sat on the edge of my computer desk with her stumpy legs stuffed into a pair of calf high boots while I waited for them to restock. Now she has some nice stockings and a pair of heels on.

 

As Cauldroness suggested you need patience, and the ability to withstand disappointment. It's a great hobby if you can find those things within yourself.

Actually, the wig in your auction pictures IS curly, you can see the wig starts to curl in the top photo:

I suspect the seller has simply brushed out the curls or used the wig a lot -- both will cause the curls to loosen up, as this is not a heat-resistant wig. If you look at my photos, you'll see it looks a lot less curly than it is in the Crobi photos.

 

You can straighten ALL wigs, heat-resistant or not, you only need to change the method you use. Search around on this forum and you'll find lots of discussions about different methods for straightening wigs, and which methods work with non-heat-resistant wigs.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't notice the second page on my phone! I guess I'll leave this here in case it's helpful to someone but it looks like the wig had been found? CrobiDoll has some nice wigs, dang!

 

Is there a particular reason you don't want an alpaca wig? I'm new to dollfies, but I have some experience with them for resin bjds and they're very nice!

 

Alternatively, check ForMyDoll (I think they do custom fiber wig orders), maybe LichtBJD too? Licht has colorful wigs at least. There's a third person that does custom fiber wigs on taobao but I can't remember their name... I'll update if I think of it.

 

Good luck to you it's really frustrating to have things all planned out only for them to not work that way.

"Red purple" is actually the translated name of the person who customized this head, Akamurasaki (aka Bloodberry):

This was their personal auction, though, so either something got lost in translation when you asked who made the wig, or they meant that they made the wig themselves.

One thing I have learned in this hobby (doll hobby in general) is to never give up on your dreams!!! and be patient because everything has its time, perseverance is very important because if you don't research and ask, you might miss a lot of things. Just like OP asked here and she/he found where to get her/his dream wig already.

Heck even official wigs are never really two in the same, I always seem to get wigs that are a little funky or off compared to posts some people put up. I have also gotten perfect ones too though.
