Face up questions

Hi, I'm a faceup noob here, I tried doing faceup, may I know how do I remove the face up that I have already finished? (after spraying MSC)

 

Edit: I have a volks thinner, does it work?

 

and sometimes when I try to draw a small line, the paint spread and became a big circle instead, why is that?

It works better for me than using Isopropyl Alcohol even though is the #1 choice of many people and very safe (I used the 99% and still struggled) so I highly recommend W&N. However, do not soak the vinyl head in the substance (as I do with BJD heads) because vinyl is more delicate than resin so it could damage the head. I use Q-tips or swabs to remove face ups on vinyl dolls then quickly rinse the head with soap (I use Dawn dishwashing liquid) and water.

 

As for the small line problem, did you let the MSC dry for at least 15-20 minutes? it could be a problem with the MSC not being fully dried or your paints. Since I never had this happened to me, I can't be of much help with this

Usually having the lines fan out into dots means that you used too much thinner in the paint. That's the effect watercolors have when you water them down a lot. You want the paint to be thin enough to flow like ink, but not so thin that it doesn't hold shape.

Hmm does tamiya's paint remover work? because it's what I could get in stores nearby, I know it will surely remove paint but I'm not sure if it will damage her.

 

and does any brand water color pencil work? after you draw em, do you generally use a wet brush to wet them over? seeing thats what water color pencils do.

Once again, I don't know if tamiya's paint remover will be safe for vinyl dolls because I have never used it >__< but if availability is a problem, I think Isopropyl Alcohol will be the safest choice until someone else can help you out better.

 

You can use any watercolor pencils, I personally love faber castell watercolor pencils. I never wet them, I only use water when I want to remove the line work. I prefer the dry look of the pencils.
