CoolCat reinforcements sizes?

Recommended Posts

Eevell

I am planning on buying my first Dollfie Dream, a Yukino version 2 to arrive and I have decided to buy the Coolcat reinforcement parts for her, to be safe. But when I go to the website there are 2 different sizes of reinforcement parts and I am not sure which size to get for my doll. Are all the bodies now the DDIII new body so I would have to get the L size reinforcement parts?

Thanks!

Consider e-mailing them. They're quite good with responding back in a timely manner.

I've used the new/large set for my DDS/3/Dy girls. I imagine the older/smaller one is for older frames.

I haven't ordered the reinforcements so can't give first hand information, but this is my understanding as well.

Are you buying it new from Volks, or second hand? If it's made recently then it's definitely the larger one you'd need. It's only the first year+ of the DDS/DD3 bodies that had the smaller things.

I can't remember which was the first DD3 that had the larger ones anymore... I think anything made 2013 or later uses the larger ones. Actually I think it's Asuna, from June 2013.

I will be buying from Volks themselves, so I will need the large parts.

Thank you everyone!

The first DD that I can recall with the larger size was the Saber Extra / Saber Alter II preorder. They had version 2 of the frame, where it was one thick, fat cylinder for the shoulder joints. They were shipped around Sept 2012, if I recall.

You're not wrong though - Asuna was the first doll with version3 of the frame! V3 has the same diameter as v2 so the large CC parts can be used with either one. However the v3 is indented in the center of the cylinder, so it looks like an H shape.

Anyway, the small size is only for Reimu, Marisa, Akira 1st - that generation, and only if their internal frames have never been replaced with newer ones (sold separately). So most of the time you'll want the large size.

Akira v.1 used large shoulder and small hips. Everything after her release used large shoulders and hips - which happens to include Aoi and Yukino v.2

Order the large size. You'll be fine for Yukino v.2.

You totally need to see Archangeli´s youtube video about DD Sheryl Unboxing. It helped me a lot. As a newbie, i did not know about the CoolCat Reinforcements, and more importantly, it was a life saver about hot to put them on!

I can not post links yet, but you can search it as DD sheryl unboxing on youtube, is the only one by Archangeli.
